Any ideas for a good dash protectant.
I need good uv protection.
Natural finish, not shinny end result.
thx.

Ditto on 303. And I would suggest ordering it from AGO so you get a new bottle.

The old formula smelled musty (I got a very old bottle that had been sitting in the back of a warehouse at NAPA). However, I ordered a new bottle from AGO for my dad and it does not smell at all.

You cannot beat the UV protection from 303 and you can use it on more than just your dash.:props:

+1 on ordering through AG....I have a case of this stuff on it's way!

How does 1Z cockpit compare to 303?

Cockpit is a cleaner...303 is a protectant against UV rays. That's how they compare...303 does have some cleaning abilities, but I always clean everything with a dedicated cleaner then dress with 303.

I agree on 303 AP. Little more expensive than some others, but very purposeful. One of my reasons for using protectants such as these is I, for one, do not completely trust the vehicle's glass areas to completely filter out all the UVs.

That said, just out of curiosity, and, not to disclaim 303's or other products stated UV protection, everyone probably knows there are proven scientific ways to test products for UV (SPF) protection designated for use on the human, or other animals, skin. Just how is this testing performed on a vehicle's myriad of materials?

Once again, IMO, the reckoning of trust comes into play.

I use both Optimum protectant and Pinnacles protectant and both are matte with a slight shine/sheen to them. Both last weeks and more important (to me) is Op doesn't streak on my mustangs dash. 303 streaked and I hated that (even after a buff).
This is a 50/50 shot of Pinnacle

Optimum BEFORE being buffed (sorry no afters :( )

Also I drive with my Maui Jim sun glasses so any reflection of the windshield I don't see :)

Poorboys Natural Look is another option. Gentle cleaning, non-greasy non-shiny protection and a light coconut/vanilla smell that customers seem to like.

Bonus: can also be used on tires cutting down 1 bottle in your arsenal.

I've always just used 1Z CP on my dash, works well for a factory matte finish. Not sure about the level of protection you get with 1Z CP though.

I did my whole car w/ 303 a few weeks ago, interior, weatherstrips, tires, bsm, etc, worked well. Probably due for another coat though.

Ewww, gloss =(

….I have heard 1Z CP has UV inhibitors but never found any documentation to back that up. As far as “looks”, 1Z CP has a natural finish that leaves virtually no added shine of its own which is a huge bonus in my book. I like 303 and buy it by the gallon for other uses but I prefer a product like 1Z CP or Meguiars Quik Interior Detailer. ….the latter I have found is very similar to 1Z CP and (according to Meguiars) does have UV inhibitors. 303 leaves a satin-like shine I simply don't like on my interior bits.

In ether case, I’ve never had an issue with the dashboards on my modern vehicles the last couple of decades in relation to sun damage. Personally, if your car sits outside a lot during the day, I would suggest a sun shade (which will make much more of an impact on limiting exposure if you’re worried about it).

Is Vinylex by Lexol the same look and feel wise as 303 or is there an appreciable difference between the two products?

I use 303 on the dash. And its amazing!!:D

Tried a bit of PERL too, all I can say is, I'll be ordering more of that stuff!

Meguiar's no#40 i like this product over 303 / it sleaves a finsh really nice. It has uv protection, not to shinny, and leaves a new car leather interior smell!!!
