Dealer Installed Swirl Option!

Might want to give it a shot with the Megs UC. As you said about the UP, for $9 you can't go wrong. Try it first with the white pad on your test spot, may not need the orange.

Now IF you try both, make sure that you do everything exactly the same. Load/prime the pad(s) the same, run the machine the same speed, same arm pressure, same arm speed and ESPECIALLY the same amount of section passes.

I've seen some people try one pad with one product and work the product till it was at the end of it's duty cycle. Then take another product with the same pad and work it 2 section passes and think that was a fair and direct comparison. For instance, 105 will NOT work 4~5 or more, slow and easy section passes ANY time, while 101 will easily work that long. (Well, not THAT long but twice as long as 105 does easily, and by doing so ends up both removing swirls better as well as finishing out better.)

Work them both as long as your shortest product and compare the results. That does not mean you cannot go back with a product that works longer and actually optimize that product for your project, just that when you are comparing one to another it's hard to do that when all things are not equal.

Update:

So i got a new job and had no time to work on this. Luckily the damage wasnt going anywhere. I tried the megs UC; it worked better than the polish, for sure. I ended up going over the whole car twice. It looks way better than it started. Holograms are gone and overall better and smoother finish, but it still couldn5t get out the fine lines. Do i need to use another product or just go over it some more?

The fine lines you are referring to....are they all over the car or are they isolated? I am wondering if they are RIDs. Could you post a pic?

I would hope he doesn't have any RIDs on a brand new car. OP, just for reference, RIDs means random isolated deep scratches. These are scratches that stick out without any effort to see them.

I had trouble with cutting action until I switched to microfiber pads. Once I did that things began to work better. Maybe it was the stiffer backing plate and not the pads but it definitely made a huge difference. Since then I've purchased a rotary and it definitely cuts but it's another learning curve. Just keep at it because it's a process of learning what works for you.

The lines are all over.

Define 'effort to see them'? Let me see if I can find the words....it's not 'get out the magnifying glass' and it's not easily visible at a glance. It's somewhere in the middle. On some test spots I held the polisher with UC on the same spot for about 1 minute and it did not get those lines away.

Camera might be able to capture it, but not with a thin coat of Utah dust, so I'll have to try again after I wash it next.

I love the mf pads. Especially the cutting disc. But as any one on here will prolly agree foam finishes better.I would use mf to cut and foam for final light polish.
Looks like y your learning alot fast though.good work.would love some pics

Update!

So had a day off and went to town with the UC. I think my technique and patience has improved. Took about 3 hours to do my tiny miata. Got it looking really nice. Then I finished with the UP I already had and wow. The camera on my phone is a piece of crap and of course really didn't capture the wet look it has.

Also, after doing this car with UC and my buddy's straight-black car, I'm not a huge fan of the metallic black paint they put on mine. Perhaps it looks a little better when slightly dirty, but it looks a little more grey/dull than when cared for than a regular black. cest la vie - stilled looks amazing.

Anyway, one problem: When I finished with the UP on my hood it really shined up nice... and drew out some old water spots I had thought I had gotten out. Incredible that they survived the work that every other defect on the car did not. But they can only be seen from odd angles under bright light. So, I said '#### it', threw on my opti-coat and if I ever get a big enough bug up my ass to polish out and reapply opti-coat to my hood, I'll take care of those spots. Until then, I prefer not to worry about it for a while. :)

Edit: But after looking at the pictures, at least the car seems happy enough.
