Dealers...yikes

As an ex-employee for a Benz dealer, that's nothing. Our dealer's detailer only did new deliveries and most of his work was upsold glass treatments and just wax. Paint correction was totally on a customer basis and never done on deliveries. Basic wash guys handled all service washes and wholesale delivery. We used brushes and dirty chamois that were never washed.

Thought I'd stop by the local luxury car dealer on the way home today. What I found was unreal, at least us AG members will know what I mean. The price on these cares range from $50k to $90k

Range Rover Evoque

Audi R8 Spider

Mercedes Benz CLK 63 AMG

These people need a clue

I work at a Toyota dealer and the detail guys use these green bristle brushes on all the cars they wash, new, used, you name it. I've seen a brand new Scion tC in Super White roll off the truck, get washed, and the paint was TRASHED in one wash. Never thought white paint could look like garbage like that. Sickening, if you ask me. I could go on all day about dealership detail departments.

Back when I had my 2007 Mazda3, it visited the body shop one last time for corrective repairs (long story), I asked them not to wash it since I had the paint looking its absolute best, they agreed not to wash it, but then it got washed and the paint was all swirled. They claimed there was no way their soft "horse" hair brushes could scratch the paint. Then the body shop manager said I had too much wax on the paint, which was really irrelevant to the whole situation. I guess his negative comment was supposed to cancel out their sh!tty car washing results. They do great paintwork and I'd go to them over and over just for that reason, but if they can't promise me my car will not be washed come hell or high water, I'll go somewhere else in a heartbeat.

I had an R8 last summer 1 hour off the lot that was hammered I spent 2 days fixing the paint. I get cars like this all the time from dealers and this is why you should never let a dealer wash or touch your car ever!! The only good thing out of dealer work is that it puts a lot of $$$ in my pocket :)

Makes me want to correct all the bad work the dealer does.

Damn, I think it's safe to say the Benz's paint was the worst. Those swirls just jumped out.

I mentioned it to the company via twitter along with the videos. One of the owners of the company that has the dealership has hooked me up with an email address of someone that will interview me (for a job). Maybe something great will come out of this.

I used to work at a Benz/Audi dealer. The $200 basic detail was washing the car with a brush and vacuuming out the interior. That's it. Yes, swirls on a $250k brand new Mercedes will make your heart sink.
