So, I decided to debadge my 2010 Mustang GT.
I have debadged a few of my own vehicles in the past, without issue.

so, I started with 20lb braided fishing line, eased in well enough. got about 1/2 way through and.... it was the point of no return.

so, there are "holes" in the 1/4 panel to ensure alignment and proper holding power.

I removed the the emblem, easy enough.

so, my question: clearly I can't roll 'round with holes in my car.
how do I reapply? super good 3M double sided adhesive?
clean and remove all residual tape from the car and emblem and go from there?

pics attached.
thank you
rob

consequently, how come I can't get my pics in the text????
regards.

That's what I would do. Clean it up...make sure it's perfect and use some good double sided tape. Re-apply. You should be as good as new.

Keep us posted.

Yep, peel off the old adhesive from the car and emblem and pick up some 3M 06382 double sided tape along with a couple of packs of the 3M 06396 adhesion promoter.

jmac, sent you a pm. :)

Best bet would be to purchase double sided tape large enough to cover the entire back of the emblem and cut it to the profile of the outer edges of the emblem. This will help ensure proper adhesion and also leave no void for dirt, dust, or anything else to get back there and dwell.

might find a new emblem with tape on Ebay for cheap ... made the same mistake on my past Vette.

Whenever I debadge I always search to see if a vehicle has that..

Yeah I would just pick up a new emblem. They are cheap enough.

It is fairly easy to reinstall the emblem with 3M double sided moulding tape and the adhesion promoter. Put a few strips across the back to cover the emblem. Then take a nice new sigle edge razor blade and cut out the gaps and trim to fit. Thats how I have badged my car. Did it 3 yrs ago and still holdin on strong as the day i did it

Car is a total loss, but because I'm a nice guy, I'll give ya 50 bucks for it ;)
