Debadging

I have a 2007 Lexus ES350 and want to take off the badging on the trunk that say ES350 and Lexus. The car is black and well kept. Is it a bad idea to do it now that the car is a year and a half old? If not, how do i get them off?

let the car sit in the hot sun or put a blow dryer on the area to warm it up. take dental floss and slide it in place and slowly work it across the back of the badging. Goo gone on the residue and you're set.

i recently did it to my jetta and its and 03. after goo gone, a quick hand polish, and some wax its not noticeable from any angle

I've removed badges on several cars over the past few years without problems. Floss works fine as stated above, just keep using it to cut through the glue behind the letters or numbers and get any left on with 3M adhesive remover or a like product. Klasse AIO to clean up afterwords and you won't see a thing. I will say the oldest car I done this with was about 5 yrs. old.

Not saying that at all, just was letting everyone know that is one of the cons removing emblems. It lifts the clear alittle and as said above you can only see it at an angle. You can always do a light wet danding on it to make it less noticable.

Like everyone else said. Some people spray goo gone on it first and let is sit in the sun and some use blow dry or heat gun and use dental floss or thin fishing line. If using a blow dryer or heat gun. Move the blow/heat gun moving across in a back and forth motion to softing up the glue and then use a the dental/fishing line and pull it across the emblem and then spray it on the panel or on a towel and let it sit on the sticky residue for some time and then start peel it off with your fingers or plastic razor.

After your done with all of this. You see some "ghousting affect". So your going to have to use a polish to remove it. After you polish remember to seal/wax it.

Also note some emblems have a small pin on the backside to help align it, I found this out in the front emblem on the C5 Vette. If pulled off carefully you should not remove any paint or clear. I too used dental floss and polished area once removed when I removed both badges unfortunately having to purchase and install another front emblem because of the hole in the bumper from where the pin fits in.
