I am looking at two systems that have a huge difference in price. I was looking at getting the Blackfire Scratch Resistance Finishing Polish along with FMJ. I heard the Blackfire could be used for different grades of polishing based on pad. I would have paired this with the Edge kit for my 7424 from AG. That would total around $180.

I also looked at the Poorboy's Polish and Protect kit from AG. With a shampoo and backing pad it would be less than $100.

I have a 2005 Blue Pontiac G6. It has swirls all over, although they are only noticeable up close.

Being a novice at detailing, how much of a difference would I really notice between the products? Would you recommend any other products instead based on the color and type of car I have?

Thank You

Poorboys offers a kit thru AG with a buffer, pads, and all accessories. It is great for novice and pro alike. Blackfire products are bright looking sealants, and you can consider the Four Star line for similar look, no need to shop CMA !!

My offering .... Edge pads, Optimum polish (varies by pad choice), Four Star UPP. YUMMY !!!

Thank guys. How does this look?

I'd say you sure have been doing your home work, that's a good setup you got your self right there.

can't go wrong with it. Looking forward to pictures when you get it all done.

I'd agree with the above, a optimum polish/compound duo, and a quality sealant like duragloss 105 or optimum car wax spray or four star upp would be my choice. I'm not a huge fan of the dinosaur paste waxes and the dusting pb's polishes have. It makes little sense to buy the pb's ssr line, when the cost is less on the opt polishes, and they seem to work better, with no dusting, a win win win situation. ;)

Yea, I'm trying to decide between the PB EX-P + Natty's Blue Combo vs. some other sealant. I have really only used waxes like Meguiar's gold class and other OTC waxes with no polishing. I don't know which look I will like better. I have heard sealants just look glossy with no depth.

Sealants are known for high gloss and reflectivity. Carnaubas give you warmth and wetness and depth. Wolfgang's deep gloss paint sealant seems to bridge the gap between sealants and waxes by offering a nice balance of shine and wetness.

Ehh, that's more a myth than fact, you know when one person 'sees' the difference, then spouts it as truth? Sure a sealant is more optically clear than a carnauba wax, but that doesn't mean it has no depth, just less than a paste wax. Try out the wolfgang sealant, or duragloss 105, you'll be *extremely* happy with either, and not waste money/time doing a sealant with a wax on top. My view is if you want depth, go wax, if you want clarity with a *bit* less depth, go sealant and don't top it with a clarity blocking wax. I think of waxes as hiders of flaws, and blocking what the paint really looks like. To each their own though. IMO though, there are *far* better sealants than EX-P, and also better waxes than NB.

I may go with the Wolfgang or Four Star UPP as suggested earlier. Will I need a finishing polish after Optimum? If so, should I just pick up the Pinnacle Twins set instead?

Thanks for your suggestions guys. I have been making new shopping carts for weeks.

You can use the Optimum polish with a finishing pad. :)

Correct. The Pinnacle twins seem to be a nice alternaive to the OC/OP. I've never used the P twins though. Pricewise though, the Opt is far less per ounce than the Pinnacle. Though AG has a nice price on the p twins pacage with a org pad and a mf towel.

I went ahead and got the twins. It was about twice the price per ounce even with the special price, but it has been getting really good reviews. I figure if I had gotten the Optimum compound and polish I would have spent about the same and it will take me a while to even use 16oz....until my friends start asking me to detail their cars;)

Thats true, you really dont need 32 oz of each when just doing your car.
