Hi I put on WG Deep Gloss Paint Sealant on my car yesterday and today the car is hazy granted its only about 35 degrees out side but should the car look like its hazy. The car is in the garage not heated. I applied it like the bottle suggest small circles and rub off using mf towel. What is going on and How do I bring back the shine?

Did you let the sealant sit on the car for 45 minutes to an hour before removing?

I've never had this issue using the WG sealant, so maybe some others may be able to help you out.

If you rub your finger across the paint does it remove the "haze"? Maybe you put it on too thick or didn't buff it off all the way. If it's had time to cure then I'd hit it with some QD. Was the garage freezing temps last night during the cure time?

Not sure what the temp was last night in our garage there wasn't frost on the grass so it wasn't below freezing.
Forty Five minutes the directions on the bottle don't say that!

Just hit it with QD helped a bit I wondering what my next move should be. Should I take the car back out of the garage and wash it with dawn or hit it with the buffer again with a green pad to try to remove this stuff? AHH!

Yeah I always leave my sealants on for at least 45 minutes before I remove them. Just give them time to adhere to the paint before I remove it.

But I don't think this would be why your having the hazy issue. Was the paint clear to begin with? As in no haziness prior to applying the sealant?

Yes, it was just washed and very shinny. I'm at a lost here.

How did you prep the paint before you applied the sealant. I'm wondering if you put something on the paint that reacted with the sealant?

I normally use IPA after polishing to remove residual polishes, however WG's prewax paint enhancer doesn't need to be wiped off, I went directed to DGPS after WG FG3.0 the first time and recently used DGPS after using Opt Finish polish to cut a step.

DGPS has always given me a very clear, glossy finish with a little nuba glow to it. It only needs 20-30 minutes to set up before removal, but I apply to the entire vehicle then take a 30 minute break. That gives the sealant about 40 minutes to set up.

I hope that helps.

Glad a car wash solved your problem.
Kurt,

I think he was saying that his car was washed and shiny prior to the application of WGDGPS, Then, it looked hazy after application of WGDGPS.

Like Corey said above, if it's cured long enough, hit it with some QD. That would be the first thing I would try. :props:

I did try to polish some of the light scratches out maybe it reacted to the polish. I thrown in the towel. I gave it a once over with the Red pad just to see if it would help remove some of it. Did some so instead of going gray over this (god only knows how much real color is left :) ) I put a wax on, the bottle say it last 3 month I'm going to wait it out! I'm still a newbie and boy does it shows :(
thanks for your ideas, I'll remember them if I ever try this again NOT!

Don't give up hope! Trust me being a newbie you will make mistakes, but learn from those mistakes.

Always ensure you prep the paint prior to applying any sealant or wax. Especially after polishing. I always wipe it down with some IPA to ensure there are no left over polish on the paint.

Keep your head up. Your probably going to get frustrated by looking at it and end up stripping it all off and starting over before that 3 months is up. If it was me that's what I would do, but I'm completely anal!

Do you have a picture? Did you apply it too thick?

Use some more of that QD and some good mf towels.

If that or a wash won't do it then maybe Wolfgang paint cleaner and try again.

I'm thinking if it is 35 degrees now then it must have been below 32 last night.

What time of day yesterday did you buff it off?

I've seen this haze with other paint sealants and the haze is usually the polymers not fully set-up on the surface.

Cold temperatures can slow down the curing process.

I would give it a very soft, gentle wipe and then if possible, leave it undercover for a day and see if it disappears.

The haze is actually the protection and beauty ingredients and if you wash it before it's fully set up you'll be removing it. Once it sets up it should disappear. Same thing goes for wiping it with a quick detailer, spritz or even a microfiber towel dampened with water... all three methods should restore clarity but it will be because it's removing the protection and beauty ingredients.

Any warmer temperatures on the way?

:)

How do I strip it off? Remembering my day light is very limited I work Nights! so I'm in bed by 2pm. All of these ideas sure will help if I attempt to do this again.

The reason I asked the questions about how early in the day you removed the sealant and what temperatures you were seeing is as follows. I was thinking along the lines of what Mike mentioned. If those temperatures were real cold shortly after applying product then I would do just as Mike mentioned and give it another day or two depending on daytime temperatures. What are the daytime temps?

I think the day temp when I put it on was in the high 50's. I only got to half the car before I turned in for the day. Car sat all night in the garage it looked good when I put it to bed. In the morning after a cold night was when the haze appeared.
I guess I'm looking to start over, I have a 3 day weekend this weekend.

You can use an IPA wipe down to remove the old sealant or you can rewash it with dawn. That will usually strip the old sealant as well.

I needed to get a second coat of WGDGPS on my Ram 2500, so while I was at it I thought I'd try to replicate the cold weather theory mentioned in this thread. Monday after work I washed it. Yesterday after work I gave it a quick wipe down with DP WW (didn't want to add any protection or jeopardize sealant results. Paint is polished (previously) to almost perfection and truck is wearing one coat of WGDGPS). I then applied WGDGPS @5:00pm, the outside temperature was 58F. I removed the WGDSPS @ 6:00pm, the outside temperature was 54F. Here is a temp reading throughout the night from our local weather station: (It's only 9:00 am here and no real sunlight out yet, but so far paint looks great and no signs of hazing. I'll go out and check it again when there is direct sun and post some pictures with an update of my findings).
