Don't we all hate door dings? Other than parking far away, what strategies do you guys do to prevent them. Also, what are the best techniques for removing them? Does that dent puller thing really work (I think I saw it on TV)? Should I leave this job to the pros?
 
leave the work to the pros..when done correctly you'll never notice the dings and they won't return when there repaired there fixed... unless someone dings the car again.
 
My only solution was parking away and I use the local Dent Doctor to remove them. He's removed 5 of them for me and does a flawless job.

YES.....far away........drives me crazy to watch a driver try to squeeze in between 2 cars 50 feet from the entrance to a store when another 50 feet away its empty spaces galore........

LEAVE DENTS TO THE PRO'S......;)
 
carry a firearm .... ok it doesnt really work, but certainly scares off the little pissers.
 
Whoa whoa whoa.. dry ice? Let's hear the process. I want it!
 
About how much does the paintless dent removal run? I have some small dings on my roof from when my bike met the car port when it was racked. :(
 
What I have seen anywhere from 50 to 500 from one to more dents.
 
I bought a Dent King (As seen on TV) for $20 off Ebay. I read reviews and some say it works and some say it doesn't. But reading through the reviews leads me to believe that the ones saying it doesn't work didn't follow the direction or just don't have minor technical skill. So I figure for $20 it's worth a try.

I tried using a small suction cup from my radar detector and it removed them to a point, but I think these tools like the Dent King get closer to the dent so you can be more precise.

I'll let you know how it works this weekend.
 
I always park so far away and always in the last parking place in which ever row I'm in. I choose the most deserted places to park and I still find cars parked next to me when I come out! I think this is done for spite because there are tons of closer empty spaces! It drives me nuts!!!!

Dry ice is supposed to be able to remove door dings, but I have never tried this so just take it for what it's worth. Supposedly if you heat the paint's surface with like a hair dryer or something to make the ding location hot, and then immediately put dry ice on it, the extreme temperature change is supposed to pop the ding out. I've heard it only works on small dings and like I said I've never actually done it, so take it for what it's worth. :)
 
I try parking away too and get the same results.

I would suggest trying the dry ice on a beater car first. Extreme temp changes might harm the clearcoat or paint.
 
well there was a guy around here who would do it ofr like 50 bucks a panel or something along those lines, but he had all kinds of crazy machinery he would stick in the car and it would like massage the dings and dents out. i vote leave it to the pros by all means, just like people should leave detailing to us pros:righton:

I think publicly executing, with great malice, the first person you see letting go of the shopping cart would be the most effective way of deterring others..
 
Well I tried the dry ice thing. As you can tell from my lack of enthusiasm, this did not work for me. I heated the dent with my 1000 watt halogen light for a couple mins. To the touch it was pretty hot, enough for me to take my hand away. Then I applied the dry ice until it was frosty. Took a couple of minutes and then I let it dry on its own. No difference. :(

I dont think PDR is expensive ..if you can afford to have them do the work it will save a some aggrevation.depending on the size of the ding it might only cost you $25.00 or more..
