Deoderizing....URGENT!

A black light would also he useful to locate the source of the problem.

I'd have them call a professional carpet cleaner.

I feel like I need to clarify a few things after reading the last 2 out of 3 posts. I never claimed to be a detailing professional as I have only been doing this as a side business for the past 6 months and I know I still have a LOT to learn. My prices reflect this though as I think they are very reasonable. I charged the owner of the Explorer $240 for cleaning his whole interior (as I described in detail a few posts above), 1 stage polish on the entire vehicle, dressed all the trim, cleaned all the windows inside and out, cleaned and dressed the engine bay, as well as dressed the tires and wheel wells, and finally applied a sealant to the paint. The owner was thrilled with the results.

Back to being on topic. When he dropped it off with me he was concerned about scratches on the outside and dog hair inside. HE never mentioned the smell. I opened the door and immediately made it my priority to get rid of it. Even when he came to pick it up he didn't mention the smell being gone. It would be different if he came to me and mentioned getting rid of the odor. I would have been up front with him and told him that I could not make any promises that I could fully remove it. Just where my experience, or lack there of, comes to play.

I do appreciate the feedback though. I know a lot of smells come from the AC system so Lysol or some other AC deodorizer could have been used. I just figured that this one was pet related since there was so much dog hair. The headliner probably could have been cleaned more in depth, but that is where my experience shows. I hate to clean them because of how thin the fabric is on most headliners. In the end I think he got a pretty good deal for his $240. Believe it or not I had 31 hours into this detail....made about $6 a hour :/
