So it really only takes 1 pad to wax the entire car but, if I only use the same pad to wax the car each time do I have to wash it every time before I use it again?

I guess that depends how dirty the pad gets, whether you are using the same "wax" each time, how crusted up it gets with dried product, how long you go between uses, etc.

Wait, are you talking about a machine pad or a hand applicator?

I spray the wax pad with a degreaser, REALLY WELL, and then soak in a pad cleaner over a day or so...comes clean for the next wax.

 I just soak my waxing pads in dishwashing soap and water, wring them out and rinse really well.I do this in the kitchen sink by hand. The wax comes out fine, and the pad is clean for the next time. I don't need any fancy treatment or product. I use two different sealant/ waxes so I prefer just to wash the pad.

Well, same thing. If you are using the same LSP all the time, and the pad isn't getting dirty, you can bag it and save it for next time, presuming you're not using an LSP with a high water content which might cause mold, in which case let it dry, brush off any residue, and bag it. That's what we used to do in the old days when some foam pads didn't have waterproof adhesive on the Velcro.

If it's really a "wax", I can tell you I pop my hand applicator for 845 in a baggie after I use it (if it's clean) and seal it and save it for next time, or sometimes will put an applicator into a can of paste wax if there's room. That's presuming you haven't moistened it with water or something that has a high water content like QD.

Yeah I use ultimate liquid wax which is a sealant. Sometimes I use the gold class paste but I wouldn't be using the same pad
