This car was easily the most frustrating car I have worked on. I brought 5 different polishes and 6 different pads and tried countless combinations attempting to get the best results.

The car is a 4.5 year old daily driver and had the swirls to show it, but the owner was ready to get it cleaned up and start as fresh as possible. After 8 hours it looked like a different car and the owner was certainly happy.

The process involved:

Full wash with CG Citrus Wash n Gloss with Autogeek Foamgun
Wheels were cleaned with CG Wheel Cleaner
Claymagic Claybar on all exterior surfaces
Polished entire car with M105 Compound on Flex DA with Yellow and Orange pads at speed 6
Finishing polish included D151, M205 and CG P40 Pro Polish on white and black pads at speed 5-6
CG Buttery Wet Wax was used to seal the finish and was applied via Flex on a blue pad at speed 3
Full wipedown with CG Acryllic Detail Spray
All exterior trim and wheel wells were dressed with CG Bare Bones
Tires were dressed with CG VRP Dressing

Interior was vacuumed and received a full wipedown

Here are the results...enjoy

****.

Blown. Away.

Does Autogeek carry P40? If so, I'm definitely trying this on my cars...

Thanks :D

No, Chemical Guys products aren't sold by Autogeek.

It's a VERY fine finishing polish that I used on panels where M205 wasn't finishing off as well as I wanted it to. I think I used it on the Hood, and two of the doors. I didn't go over the entire car with P40 because I was being paid accordingly for a two-step polish correction...I just applied a finer polish on some areas for my own satisfaction before turning it over to the owner.

I would imagine it's similar to Menzerna PO85RD.

The good ol Brinkman Dual Xenon

My other light is just a 1000w (500w and 500w) halogen.

Worth it's weight in gold.

Looks very good. Since you are using the Flex, you may want to invest in a PFW pad. It will cut better and faster than an orange or yellow pad. :)

I do have a PFW pad. The orange pad was cutting very quickly with M105 though.

I'm personally not a huge fan of the PFW pad, but maybe I just need to use it more.

When doing heavy correction, wool>foam IMO. I've read some reviews about the SurBuf pads that they cut pretty well. Is a rotary in your future?

I just do it as a hobby a couple weekends a month; I doubt I'll get into rotary work due to the amount of practice I'll need to be proficient with it.

I agree wool corrects quicker than foam, but it didn't take more than 4-5 section passes with M105 to clear those swirls up. The hard part was getting the correct combination of pad and finishing polish.

Very nice work!

I'm sure the owner was pleased.

Yeah, he was getting sick of looking at his car during the day. He was VERY happy and headed straight out to a car show once I finished :xyxthumbs:

Insane Job my friend, congratulations!
With this kind of example of heavy swirl corrección I want to buy me a Flex

Thanks :)

The Flex was a great investment. Works much quicker than the Porter Cable and is so smooth during use. It's very comfortable to work with compared to the PC DAs.

It's an addicting hobby! Very nice results. :)

I'm surprised that it (M105/205) says it can be used by hand. I wonder how that would have resulted?

It would've taken days to do it by hand.

That was a full 8 hours of work from start to finish plus about 30 minutes for pictures.

I do sometimes apply by hand to small pieces that are even too small for a 4" pad...but that is very rare.
