Is there a good detail light at a Home Depot or lowes that I could use for detailing?

Halogen..nothing special if you do it as a hobby
Whatever you get, make sure it has a wide beam. This is crucial for seeing swirls. You notice those big halogens people use that are spotlights? They show everything and have a very wide beam.
Something like an led light usually doesn't show swirls very well ime.

I got this one as well and love it so far. No heat on you or the paint. it shows swirls in the paint and is one of the best purchase i made.

For a portable light I use a Coast HP550 1,000 Lumen adjustable beam LED.
It's bright enough to show defects on glass - but has an adjustable beam so you can, well... Adjust it.
It was at Costco for $49.99... Then it was marked down to 20 bucks for a nano second. Online now it's about $70-$100. I have a Brinkmann LED Tuff Max as well, but it only works when it wants to. Currently it's not working and I'm too lazy to take it apart again.
To be fair, I did drop the Brinkmann - once. The Coast I've probably dropped 5x. Still works perfect.

I'd give it an 8/10. It's bright and definitely shows the swirls etc., but works much better on darker vehicles than lighter ones in my experience.

Any twin head 500 watt (per head) or greater halogen is a must have for paint correction.
Of course when your sitting down on the floor doing the sides you want one that the top comes off so you can sit it on the floor as well.
I also love me a good bright LED. I have a single element ultra bright unit that puts out ZERO heat, 2550 lumens, and is GREAT for floor work. You can find it at Northern, although not cheap at $99.
They have a dual head unit for something like $189 but I'll just use a halogen most of the time anyhow for taller work. Especially as you can find a 1000 watt unit for $35 most everywhere you look.
I'm thinking Lowes has one that is switchable from 150, 300, 450, 600 per side in the $55~$60 range.

Oh I love that single element LED! Not cheap by any means, but that puppy is BRIGHT! That and I can hold it in one hand, move it right next to me when I'm laying (or sitting) on the floor, and get a different wavelength light from a different angle.
What could we say about halogens that hasn't already been said?
OTOH, in the winter I don't have to run a heater in the garage so much.

There are many setups you can use with varying budgets/intensity. Best thing is more light = better results of course. The sun is the cheapest! Few ideas:
- halogens (standard)
- husky or ace hardware LED 1500+ lumen lights
- brinkmann marine dual light
- DIY par38 ecosmart LED lightbulb @ home hardware, high CFL lumen lightbubls + DIY light bulb stands.
- high lumen tactical light - fenix, etc. 200-1000 lumens
- Xenon LED lights from ebay.
