Detail or Extractor

Well after the great results that I was able to get on my mustang I am considering going ahead and doing a full detail on my truck. My best friend got me a full detail and it will be about $300. The price seems high to me from what I have read, but they seem to do a killer job. They do all this:
--Meticulously hand wash entire exterior surface including wheels & tires
--Use clay to remove all surface contaminants by hand.
--3-Step professional polishing to a high gloss finish for that “showroom fresh” look
--Touch up paint chips with matching paint & application of paint sealant
--Clean dash, vents, door panels and all vinyl trim with a protective cleaner
--Clean and condition all interiors with leather options
--Vacuum & extract soil from carpeting, seats & floor mats
--Spotless detailing of entire vehicle with special finishing brush & cloths

My main question is that for the $300 dollars, that would pay for almost half of a quality carpet extractor. Should I just detail my truck myself and get the extractor or just have my truck detailed by this company? Any suggestions? Thanks for reading, I know its long...
 
Extractor. If you know how to do it yourself, why let someone else. Plus you have all the help you need right here on AG.
 
That $300 would go a long way on AG, plus you would have more fun and more buy-in to a detail that you did on your truck. IMO.
 
I guess because I am still very wet behind the ears with detailing. And figure a pro would produce outstanding results.
 
Just save that 300 and spend it on your own detailing stuff :) Have fun detailing your car.
 
Di it yourself. I learned everything I know from reading AG pages and trying it on my own and troubleshooting my steps.

put the $300 towards an extractor. Look around, at work we just got a really nice used one for 250$.

You do know that the tips and tricks section of AG store is for folks like you starting out! Pinnacle's DVD is also very nice.
 
dont bother with the $300 detail...buy some AG stuff and go to town...
 
Definitely do it yourself. You can do it! It's not that tough! Plus you get the feeling of accomplishment!

first its not that hard. seconed all pros are not pros. We dont know what the work of the shop is like. If i where you i would go out rent an extractor and spend the rest on products. Once you jump in you will relise how easily and naturaly the detail will go.

plus its fun to detail your own car. you will be more proud of it then if somone else did it:D
 
Buy your stuff from AG. Lone_Star where do you live? That's too much.
 
I think I have been leaning all along towards doing it myself, just wanted some oppinions. The place looks to do darn good work, high end cars, and have been around almost 30 years, or is it 20? Anyways, I am up here in Michigan. I already made a big purchase from AG, they took my entire weeks pay, but I really want the carpets nice and clean. I guess I could rent an extractor or as mentioned find a used one for cheap.....

Thanks Sparkie. Maybe I can convince a local detailer from Michigan to do the carpets are let me do them with there extractor.....
