Hello everyone! Been some time since I posted. I'm finally getting around to planning the long awaited detail on my quartz gray 06 A4. I've never detailed this car aside from washing / waxing, owned it for about a year and a half now. I need some paint work done first, and then we'll be good to go. Truthfully, its the scratch on my bumper I got at school that led to me never detailing it. Just seemed to always ruin the idea. I felt like putting my plan up to see if you guys had any advice or comments! It is a metallic paint, so maybe theres a better method to get it to pop? I'm just a hobbyist over here! :buffing:

1. Super wash. Dish soap, and really clean everything.
2. Clay bar. Usually use Meg's or Mother's clay bar OTC kits. Megs QD as a lubricant, although I may use something nicer since I'm low on QD.
3. Compound entire car with M105 and a Lake country orange flat pad. I have a set of the flat pads. Used M105 before and will have to relearn it a bit, but last time it came out great.
4. Polish with M205 and a white lake country flat pad.
5. 3 coats of Klasse HGSG.
6. Coat of Collinite 845 over the Klasse.
7. Maintain with the DUB Spray Wax (haven't bought it but want to).
8. Wheels with Klasse as well, at least 2 coats.
9. Tires with CarPRO PERL 1:1. 2-3 coats.

The car: (Have new summer wheels now, but no pictures yet)

The only thing I can say is that the washing with dish soap is really pointless. This method does nothing to really clean the paint. You are going to be compounding and polishing the paint any way so just use a normal car wash soap and you will be fine.

Make sure you do a test spot with m205 first you might not need to compound with M105.

Everything else looks spot on :xyxthumbs:

Sounds good. I think I'm leaning towards using 205 with an orange pad, then a white or black pad to finish it. Compounding probably isn't necessary except for some spots with scratches

Do the test spot and check your results. Its always best to remove as little paint as possible when removing defects :xyxthumbs:

You speak the truth! So I'm now leaning toward using the Blackfire Wet Ice Over Fire combo instead of Klasse. Less work, better (maybe?) results.

I personally have never used Klasse. I have used the Blackfire Ice over fire and its very easy with an amazing look

I'm sold. My dad said he'd split it with me if I used it on his car as well. How many uses can I get out of the 7.4oz wax tub and the 16oz sealant bottle do you think?

Holy crap!!!!! I would say wax you can get about 15-20 cars and the sealant easily 20+ cars. That will last you a long time. You can even go with the 3oz wax IMO

Awesome! Well thats good to hear, really makes the $70 worth it then!

Very very minimal product use with those two. There are some videos of Mike Phillips and Todd Helm using them.

You should pick it up on Blackfire.com, they are running a 20 percent off sale. I just picked up their new coating kit.

Thanks for the heads up!

Here's the car as it sits now after a quick QD / spray wax and sitting on the new wheels. I still need to adjust the coils for summer height.

Can't edit my older posts for some reason, so I'll just post again.
