Detail questions

When was it repainted? That looks like a single stage paint to me. If it is, then try a pass of meguiars #7. Don't color sand till you know exactly what is happening with the paint.

It looks like there is missing paint on the roof. How much did you sand? And you used a machine to color sand?

I did/
Compound
Polish
Wax

IMO this wasn't worth claying, so I didn't. would be a waste of money and elbow grease.

These are the highest results that I can see for your truck or painting it all over again.
I did do the meguiers clay system on it then I used number7 didnt get the results I was getting with a 3 inch buffer with rubbing compound. Its just taking forever with the rubbing compound. I got fast results wet sanding but burned through the paint fast too. Is their a rubbing compound you would recommend??

I'm new to "detailing" i am not new to working at an auto body shop, color sanding, buffing, polishing, waxing

Brand new painted cars with 3 brand new layers of clear coat.

What we used was the 3M rubbing compound. View attachment 17221

If asked to go do your car I would use a wool pad, (orange foam pad) and use 3M compound lightly and little bit little.

And then polish and wax

2x2 foot

And what I got would be the final results. And asked if you would want me to keep going

Some guys on here however are super geniuses and can make miracles happen.

But yeah no more color sanding...

IMO 3M running compound, 3M polish then some wax. Reason I keep bringing up 3M is cos you could find it locally and not have to wait for shipping only to find out it did no good.

If a 3 inch buffer is all you have then let it take forever. Shouldn't be that long though.

2x2 foot

Medium to slow speed

Then see what you have.

Before you take my advice what buffer are you using?

I'm not a profesional at all and I have always hand waxed everything couple of hand surgerys later I can't do it anymore no buffing anyway. I got this cornwell mini buffer local body shop told me to start with this.

I am new to foam pads, but a medium to heavy cutting pad with the 3M rubbing compound would be my best bet.

Dont know if they make mini wool pads though. Cos that would be my preference.

So something like this.

3M is the grittiest I know. But I am new to this. (Detailing)

Yeah that wool pad might work.

But like I said in the beginning it looks like those are going to be your best results.

Or just wait for somebody with more knowledge to chime in.

Any advice on polish or wax?? I was thinking of using that dodo juice for blue vehicles for the wax.

I enjoy buying things locally go for quick buys and the big boy stuff I use Auto Geek

www.yelp.com

find a local paint supply store and by the 3M polish and go to Kragen, oreilys which ever and buy Meguiars Ultimate Liquid wax,

I have never tried Meguirs Ultimate Compound but will soon and from what I've read it might let you skip the polish stage dont know though. I think meguiars sells a polish also.

Look up videos on mike phillips on how to pick up the bead.

They used to call me compounder on the beginning haha

I typed in: Auto Geek How To Pick Up the bead, it's another step to prevent making a mess..

Or you can try by pudding compound on the pad first then on the car and spreading it around then get started.
