The owner of this cool car was a teacher of mine and currently teaches my son. She lost her husband last year and decided to buy the car they both wanted forever. They even had a similar own when they were first married back in the 60's. I've been just washing/vacuuming over the last months and she finally decided to have it fully detailed with winter coming up. The top needed to be cleaned too. Sorry if the pics aren't up to par. It was getting late and I was running out of light.

There's a little of an experiment going on here so read on.....

Start Time:
2:30pm
End Time:
6:00pm
Payment:
200.00

Meguiar's NXT Car Wash with 1 teaspoon of Dawn per gallon
(Used wash ShMitt and 2 gallons of water)

Optimum's New Formula Polish and Poli-Seal Combo
(EDGE2K Orange Polishing Pad at a #5 PC setting)
This is the experiment I was talking about. I'm looking for the best one-step product found (or made). After seeing what Poli-Seal can do by itself, why not try to make it better? I place several dime sized drops of OPS and of OP onto my pad. It went on very smooth and cleaned up quick. I varied the amounts but came to this ratio.....25% Polish and 75% Poli-Seal. I'll be mixing up a sample bottle after this to try on others. The car had minimal swirling and the combo did away with them while cleaning as well. The big thing will be the durability. I told the customer what I was doing and let her know that I would re-seal if needed. I bet I don't have too!

Here's my pad with combo....

Meguiar's Detailer Line Wheel Brightner

DP's Wheel Glaze

Mmmmmm, i love my mustangs.

How long do you expect the Poli-Seal to last?

Well, it gets 3-4 months by itself. I'm expecting 4-6 weeks at least. I have yet to use a good one stepper that will last past 1 month. I think this combo will be a hit.

Why would optimum polish help add durability to Poli-seal? Isn't it just a swirl remover?

I said Poli-Seal gets 3-4 MONTHS and I expect to get 4-6 WEEKS out of this combo. I suspect that the added polish will cut down on the durability.

Sorry bro, I miss read. Anways, the Mustang looks darn good!

No prob at all. Just wanted to be clear. I just talked to detailer that uses OPS and has already seen 10 weeks of beading/protection from one of his weekly customers. He used Optimums stuff soley and swears by it.
I can't wait to mix some up with OHC for even more cut and protection!

After reading what you mentioned about how you charge differently for a sealant that would last longer (EX: charge more for a 6 month sealant than a carnauba since it lasts longer)

I plan on using Poli-Seal for a 3 month sealant for customers, and either DG #105 or #111 as a 6 month sealant.

Justin the Mustang looks great. Go to the head of the class, you just got an A! I love the way you write up the products used and steps you take to get your end results. It's very helpful to a newby like me.

No problem at all! I love doing the write ups. Anytime I can help someone out and save them time from having to post and wait, is worth my time spent!

I am amazed at the amount of work you accomplished in 3.5 hours. I did a similar amount of work on a Mustang that was as dirty and it took my a couple of days! This is why you are a profesional!

Great job.

wow, another amazing job! I love your write-ups because it gives me tips on what to do next time :)

How the heck do you get those lines in the floor matts, I swear I've tried to do everytime I detail, I get close , but not like that. The car looks great by the way, I love ford paint, I feel it celans so easy. Can you tell when you put dawn in the soap bucket, basically I asking if its worht doing.

You have to vacuum the mat while wet to get really good lines. I push all of the carpet one way first with my hands. Then vac steadily. Then put on the floorboard and crank the heat on high and towards the floor for 15 mins. This bakes them in!

This car had lots of grime on it. I added the Dawn hoping to boost the NXT wash. Just a little experiment. It DID NOT remove the 4 month old coat of NXT as it still beaded when I rinsed. Alot claim that it will remove an LSP, which it may, but not in one single wash. I did feel that it did help in removing grime and bugs. I will only do this on pre-detailed cars to give a good finish. Polishing will remove any LSP though.
