Re: Detailed Designs Auto Spa of Atlanta presents our perpetual SnS thread featuring auto detailing, clear bra installations, paint coating systems &
2014 Tesla Model S interior detail, leather coating, paint correction, clear bra installation and Modesta BC-05 coating project.
The owner reached out to me maybe two months ago to discuss protection options when he ordered his Tesla. After spending some time discussing his options with him and educating him, he set his appointment for as soon as the car arrived. I ask him to inform the service center(technically not a dealership) to not wash or touch the car any more than they had to. While we completely dropped the ball getting sufficient before shots of the whole project, we did take photos of some of the more hammered areas. Swirl marks were all over in typical fashion and then there was the stuff pictured too....wow....rough straight from the factory.
The only sanding required was the area pictured on the hood. Despite the sanding, there was still defects that were not correctable, there, as well as on the passenger fender(pictured). You can identify those spots in the pictures.
We corrected his paint with our silver package, installed clear bra paint protection film over the whole hood, whole front fenders, front bumper and luggage access and then capped off the paint with Modesta BC-05. The completion of the project got rolled back due to a factory defect I found on the hood clear bra piece after it was completely installed. My whole roll had minor defects in it result in my calling the customer and informing him we needed more time to fix the defect found in my widest ppf bulk roll. The piece being installed in the picture was the first piece. Days later we removed the film and reinstalled another piece before the owner got it. Nothing being sneaked by on our part!
Wheels were removed for a proper cleaning and coating application. Tires were dressed with Carpro DLux(can you say $20 of product to dress tires?:dblthumb2: )
Interior received a full detail. Only area we got before pictures of was the rear. Though, you can imagine that the rest looked identical to the trunk area.
Leather seats were treated with Opti-Guard.
Glass coated as well.
Enjoy...and as always, feedback is welcome.
Pro-tip:
Check the surface temperature as you go. The cooler, the better.
Paint Protection Film ( Clear Bra ) installation:
Modesta BC-05 being hit with an IR lamp
Tim doing his "thang" on the wheels
All buttoned up and ready for pick up. After many days of work, we finished the car
just before the owner picked it up. I did my best to get direct sun shots as I typically do for projects. But I had very little time to get some sunlight in my shots at all.
Excellent tip Al. Thank you!
