Detailed for 8 hours, 1 wash = swirls

As soon as I saw you used a car cover I thought that was the culprit. At least it added to the problem. They can scratch when putting them on or taking them off or just moving with the wind. Like someone pointed out, when you cover after driving the car has dust and dirt that will scratch a flawless finish.

I realize Stangyellows post was a long time ago. I dont think Jernal was using one. Either way regarding covers:

1. Never put them on a dirty/dusty car. Even after driving it once. You should always clean the paint with a QD before applying the cover.

2. Start at the mirrors of the car when applying. Finish at the mirrors when removing. This will anchor the cover and help keep it from sliding around. So, when removing it, gently roll from the back folding teh cover as you go. Stop at the mirrors and leave the mirror pockets on the mirror. Then start at the front and roll/fold back to the mirrors. Now you have the cover lying over the windshield and anchored at the mirrors. Now fold up the sides, unhook the mirrors and finish folding on the windshield. Reverse the process for applying.

3. Always store the cover in a bag and never let it touch the ground.

4. this one is tough for outdoor covers. I always California Duster the outside surface of the cover before removing (only thing I use a duster for). This keeps dirt from getting on the inside of the cover when you roll it up and marring the paint. Clean cover meets clean paint.

5. and use a good quality cover.
