So a co-worker of mine finally bit the bullet and bought a new car...of course it was black...and of course all signs pointed to poor dealer prep....more holograms than a pokemon card.....and swirl city

on to the process:

WASH

Pressure rinsed then foamed down with Citrus Wash n Gloss...mirco chenille mitt and a buckets of ONR...my new way of washing/rinsing at the same time...dried with an ultimate guzzler

WHEELS

PB Spray and Rinse...still the best stuff out there...blasted all the grime of with my power washer once i let it sit for a while

CLAY

Lubed with ONE and used a mild gray detailing clay...marred the hell out of the paint but i knew I was polishing anyway

PAINT CORRECTION

Menzerna Nano Polish (PO106ff) and edge2k green wave pad....the car was just marred from my clay and lightly swirled and cobwebbed...also had a million holograms...funny i could follow the trail of the last person who buffed it based on the holograming

GLASS

Sprayway glass cleaner as always and my new 1 dollar waffle weave microfiber towel from wal-mart...

GLAZE

Not something i normally do but i had some RMG laying around so i decided to give it a whirl....made the paint very wet...smelled like donkey butt....i will stickto skipping this step as I always do...(FMINUS the RMG is heading your way)

LSP

It was getting hot so i finished up and slapped on a layer of Petes53...was debating using jetseal but i figured the RMG would create bonding issues if i used a sealant

THE PICS!!!!

HMMM GROSS

Great job there! That hood BEFORE shot was nasty. Love the last 2 pictures. Like freakin' mirrors!! Nice sharp reflection on that hood. Can see every little leaf!

Great job I love detailing black cars ( but not owning them! ). I have a similar situation with a co-worker who bought a black camry that I'm doing soon. Hope it turns out as well as yours!

Nice work!! The whole car is a mirror :D Love the job!! How to they manage to make so mutch holograms? :O

Mirror-like reflections on that. Looks extremely good.

Those dealers do some bad work on the cars. I also managed to marr the paint with the clay here the other day, hate when that happens, so in future, im considering to clay only when i know im putting on some polish after.

Those reflections was "screensavers".

HOLY MOLY!

Question: Must be nice to have a personal photographer:-P

it was nice to have an assistant for once...took a lot of action pics for my next tutorial on rotary polishing...hoping to use it if i can organize my mini detail fest....

I noticed that you were working the Chicago Rotary... how do you like yours so far? How long have you had it?

been trying out for a couple month since justin30513 mentioned it...works very well actually....made me realize i wasted a lot of money spending over 200 dollars on my other rotary....

I have one and I agree with you. Great machine! I got mine on sale for like $30! I mean it's a motor in a casing that turns a pad right. The only complaint I have about it is the switch. I wish it was a variable switch as well. I don't like th eclick 'on' click 'off' style. Other than that... it's a no-brainer!

damn that's nice... i just did a black car too!
