So my Flex has seen A LOT of duty in the past two years, and it shows. There was caked on polish in every imaginable nook and cranny, and it was a sorry sight indeed. What started as a "detail my detailer" project turned into a serious cleaning. Anyway, just a fun way to spend two hours this afternoon that only my fellow autopian's could truly appreciate.:eyebrows:

Here's what she looks like before I got started

I cleaned a bunch of pads with DP pad cleaner granules, so I already had a bucket of soapy water and my nylon pad brush handy. I set about to scrubbing the exterior to remove the caked on polish. LOTS of elbow grease was necessary here, that stuff was really stuck to the surface!!!

When I removed the backing plate, I was shocked to see it full of rust and dust. This was DEFINITELY needed as a lot of the previously lubricated areas were now void of grease.

The inside of the polisher cleaned. Moving parts and bearings were greased after this pic was taken

And what would this post be without the AFTERS!:eyebrows: I treated/protected the exterior surfaces with 303.

Thanks for looking!

outstanding, hey I noticed the WD-40 in one of the pics, use PB Blaster it makes WD look like a wimp. My 2 cents.

I actually did use PB Blaster, from a mechanical background I couldn't agree with you more. The WD40 is my father's. ;)

Gotta love it that we are cleaning our tools. My neighbor once told me that he could not believe I worried more about anything other than cleaning my cars until he saw the inside of my toolbox. He just stood there shaking his head .

I love that you detailed a detailing tool!

Makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Great job...... Makes me wonder what mine looks like after 2 years of regular abuse
Guess it probably looks a lot like yours

I feel the same way. I'm scared to look at what my PC and Griotts look like now. I just started detailing professionally 2 years ago so I've had a lot of training miles put on those machines and some heavy duty professional use too. Im tempted to upgrade to a Flex or get the mini Griotts but I guess I better look inside my current machines to make sure Im taking care of them properly enough before I go buy more.

I thought you all would get a kick out of this. Glad you all enjoyed it! :)
