Well, after a years worth of outdoor living and daily driving, the rear trunk lid, spoiler, and top of the bumper were pretty bad on my 2011 Charger. They had a few RIDs, some holograms, and couple of minor water spots.

I used Megs D151 AIO a few months back, but it didn't get out the deeper RIDs. I assume the RIDs are from the boars hair brush I used last winter and spring.

Anyway - I decided on the following plan of attack.

1. 2 bucket wash with Megs D111
2. Clay the areas being detailed
3. Tape
4. Megs 105
5. Megs 205
6. Klasse AIO
7. Natty's blue paste wax

Let's see how it turned out. By the way, this is only my fourth attempt at using my Griots DA and I still love this thing. It works great, but I wouldn't have even begun to think about doing this myself if it hand't been for Mike, AG, and all the cool people here - so THANKS everyone!

Anyway......

I had a hard time getting a good before shot. The brinkman wasn't charged and I couldn't find a great angle to get a good before shot. :(

Faint water spots and faint RIDs.

Had to drag out the canopy today. 97 degrees today in DC. No garage! HOT!

The trunk and window taped and covered and ready to go.

All the good stuff... 105, 205, Klasse, pads, etc, etc,

And here's a reflection shot of the upper panel after 105 and 205, but before klasse and nattys. Already looking shiny.

Trunk and spoiler reflection shot after full detail. Can see the canopy pretty good.

No more holograms. The white dots are not splatter from the compounds - they are the reflections of the pearl paint. Looks better in person.

Another quarter panel shot after the full detail of 105/205/klasse/nattys.

Reflection after just 105/205. I'm hot and sweaty even being under the canopy.

I hope you all enjoyed the shiny black paint! Next weekend - the hood.....:buffing: :buffing: :buffing: :buffing: :buffing:

Alex,

Nice restoration!

I like the before and after but also the shot of the products and tools you used....

Super Glossy! :props:

I like your method of detailing....one section at a time!

That metalflake is POPPIN!!!

Nattys Red is good for getting metal flake to pop. Did you wax the rest if the car too?

Thanks BobbyG! I wish I could have gotten a better before shot of the RIDs, they were pretty bad.

Yea, I just can't dedicate a whole day to the detail (which is how long it would take a amateur like me). Even just doing the trunk/bumper and then washing the car, set up, tear down, etc took almost 5 hours. But that flake looks great. Thanks Flash!

Very sharp...

Thanks!

Good to know on the red natty's. I've only ever used the blue paste, and I'm interested in seeing how the blue liquid works. But maybe I'll try some of the red next time.

Yea, I just used the natty's blue on the areas I detailed. I was running out of time for the day and hit the rest of the car with XMT spray wax. My plan is start earlier next weekend and polish the hood and then get natty's over the remainder of the car.

I practice the same methods when I work on my own. Who wants to waste their whole day off detailing the car :autowash:
