Recently I have seen posts from other forum members looking for a detailer in their area. Weather they need their vehicle detailed, or just want some help detailing it.

My thought is to make a thread for these specific members that need a detailer or some help. Then they can post where they are from, range they could travel if needed, what they would like done, and other information. At that point other forum members could either recommend detailers or offer their services or a helping hand.

I think this could be a good way of helping out others on the forum and give opportunities for people that love detailing a chance to share knowledge.

What do you think?

i think it's a good idea even though we have a pro detailer thread already. This way we can create different thread for each state or couple states close to each other in one thread.

I agree. It's a good Idea if we can get a list of guys who are good detailers that don't necessarily do it full time and couldn't list in the pro detailer thread.

I'm all for anything to help others either find a detailer or find someone to lend a helping hand...

I don't get a ton of e-mails and PM's asking for this type of thing but when I do,

If they are already a forum member PMing me, I ask them to start their own thread and write an appropriate thread title.

Detailer Wanted in Spokane, Washington

If they e-mail me then I ask them to register with the forum and then start a thread and give them the registration link and the link to the off topics forum group.

I figure if it's important enough to them they they can do one of the above. If it's not then well, it's not.

Once in a while I will take the initiative to start a thread for someone not a member like this one,

Detailer in the Baltimore, Maryland area...

But now days that's pretty rare.

Autogeek will again be the Title Sponsor for My Classic Car for 2013 and this means we bring people in from the TV world that might not be forum savvy. They also might like the idea of having a pristine finish on their car but not want to do it themselves. This usually means they'll look for someone qualified to do the work for them. Still, if they're savvy enough to use e-mail, type and surf the web they're savvy enough to figure out how to "join a forum". And if they're not I have to articles with screen shots that shows a person what to >click on<.

I like any idea that helps others and is win/win for everyone including the AGO forum.

Good post Mike...

but playing devil's advocate, having a section within a forum section dedicated to potential clients/jobs (Classified's/Help wanted? section maybe?) would be a good place to consolidate threads requesting help or business.. it can take some time to wade through the off-topic posts or search results.

Now, i know from reading a few 'job' threads that most members here look out for each other, and if there's a thread near an area of a memeber, it is usually directed to him/her etc.. members helping members and all.

And it may be intimidating for some, to start a new thread looking for a detailer, when it is often easier if you already know someone on here..

again. just playing devil's advocate.

discuss.
