I posted in a thread concerning Detailer's Pride Poli-Coat a week or so about how I was interested in the product but have never ordered it. Nick posted and was kind enough to send a free sample to review.

Well, little did I know that he sent a whole lot more than a sample! I received 32 oz. bottles of Poli-Coat, DP Instant Detailer, and DP Rinseless Wash & Gloss. What a great company.

First off... I'm pretty finicky about LSP's. I simply will not use them if they are hard to apply, hard to remove, or require and excessive amount of cure time. I do this for a business, so my products need to look good and be durable, but they also need to be efficient to use.

I'm not going to write you a book about Poli-Coat, you can read all about it from Autogeek's website:

DP Poli-Coat Paint Sealant, polymer paint sealant, auto paint sealant, DP Policoat paint sealant, paint sealer

For prep this truck I did the following:
ONR wash
Nanoskin Medium Grade Towel to decontaminate
Polishing using HD Polish and a LC CCS Orange pad
CarPro Eraser
DP Poli-Coat

Thoughts about Poli-Coat:

1. Really thin consistency, which I like. Makes it easier to spread by hand or machine. You also use a lot less product because it goes further. Reminded me of DG 101 with cionsistency.
2. Chemical smell. Not all products can smell great, especially sealants. This is one of the ones that does not smell great.
3. Very easy to remove... almost shockingly easy. I was using a CarPro BOA towel and it came off effortlessly.
4. Very efficient product. I sealed this entire truck using probably less than an oz. of product. If you did 200 - 250 cars a year, a gallon of this product could last you a year easy. There are a lot of efficient products out there but this one is near the top. Here it a picture of how much I used per entire panel, about 3-5 extremely small drops. This is a hex grip applicator.

Overall I have to say that I'm really more and more impressed with the DP line the more I use it. They are top quality, efficient, and affordable products. They might not have a bunch of fancy packing but it's whats on the inside that counts. I would recommend this sealant to anyone. I've already used the Detailer and Rinseless Wash & Gloss and can say that they are on par with any other top name out there.

Thanks to AG for sending me these product to review. They will not go to waste.. I'm going to be using them all a lot from here on out. :dblthumb2:

Great review, Nick sent me the same:)
I too was shocked how easy it was to remove the sealant.
Like you said its so easy to spread, I described it like spreading butter.
Yes a little goes far and easy to apply a thin coat, I applied mine by hand and had no high spots that you sometimes get using other sealants.

I love applying sealants by hand, with the DP it's really easy to do so.
It dries almost transparent.

Thanks for the review. I really look forward to order this product when I place an order. It's easy of use yet it's effectiveness are second to none: I'm a believer even not using yet based on DP quality, product description and user reviews to confirm precision of description.

I really like applying LSP (generally) by machine... Blue Pads, Red Pads, Gold Pads... Would you notice this product can stain trim? I don't generally pass over trim, but it may accidentally get some residue.

Thanks in advance,

Kind Regards.

Have not noticed any trim staining but I'm really good at not applying LSP to trim and I Dont have extensive experience with the product yet.

I got a little on my trim, wiped it off right way and looked good.
Never know may come to find it does stain later but IMO it won't stain but that's just a guess of mine.

How long does this sealant last?

It is rumored to last around a year in optimal conditions. We will see I suppose. Going to apply it to a bunch more vehicles soon.

Thanks OP and HateSwirls for answering, based on your description it won't stain trim as well the way I apply. Product looks good.

Again, thanks!

Kind Regards.

I have been a fan of Duragloss sealants for a long time. I use the 4:1 ratio method of sealant (111 or 105) to bonding agent (601). I have never been disappointed with these. However, I tried the DP poli-coat sealant for one reason only - the bonding agent was already pre-mixed with the sealant, thus saving the bother of buying two different products and mixing them to the exact ratio. DP made it easier than Duragloss and the end result was just as good.

Having said that, their QD in the can is a mess to use. It sprays all over the place and the nozzle keeps on going for a second after you release it. The QD spreads okay (but not great) and it takes a little bit of work to buff it off. The look is darn good, however, and my ML350's diamond white paint is glossy and slick after using it. I still prefer the Duragloss products of AquaWax as a topper and drying aid and the Fast Clean and Shine as a QD. It would be interesting to hear your review of the DP QD as well.

I posted somewhere on my thoughts of the DPQD.

First it smells good. Nothing wrong having a product smell more like fruit than chemical. Lol

As I said before it comes in a ready mixed 32oz bottle with a nice sprayer.

A quick mist on a panel you simply wipe the panel then flip your towel, it dries off fast making it easy to buff.
It leaves an incredible shine that is very slick.

I rated it at 5 stars, all pros without cons.

This past weekend I washed my truck and used it as a drying aid, I was happy at how well it helped to dry off the truck, almost half the time because I didn't have to continue going over it over and over to get it to dry, I said how I hate drying a car but this time was different , a great test in the making for me that day.
After the truck was dry I inspected it for water spots and none really to talk about and the paint looked clean and left it with a nice gloss.

There's a lot of lube going on inside that bottle of the DPQD so it's also great for claying, mist a little on your pad before you begin buffing , keeps from dry buffing, it's a 4 & 1 all in one bottle. :dblthumb2:

I highly reccomend it:)

Sorry guys, I typedmy thoughts on the wrong product:(
You know it's sad when we have so many products we, well myself lose track of them.
Sorry for the hijack OP

I applied Poli-coat to my gf's Altima in April 2014. Most panels are still showing signs of being hydrophobic. I did not polish prior to applying, just a wash and clay. I am very impressed with the product. I have been applying it all the cars I've cleaned lately.
