I was one of the lucky "post a selfie" on AGO's Facebook page winners (3rd place, Microfiber Madman) and in-addition to my prize Brittney threw in a free Detailer's Pro Series Total Interior Combo kit! Thank you, Brittney!!!

The kit includes,

  • Detailer's Pro Series Total Interior Cleaner
  • Detailer's Pro Series Interior Surface Protectant
  • Poly Foam Applicator
  • Green Microfiber All Purpose Cleaning Cloth
Needless to say, I was thrilled go receive such a generous bonus prize just in time for my weekend interior detail project.

For this comparison test I'm going to focus on the cleaning abilities of Detailer's Pro Series Total Interior Cleaner, vs Griot's Garage Interior Cleaner vs 1Z Einszett Cockpit Premium Interior Plastic Cleaner:

Test spots made on the rear deck of my 335i convertible that is maintained with 303 Aerospace Protectant. Each section was divided up equally, sprayed with one full squirt of product and rubbed for 20 seconds with a green all purpose mircofiber cleaning cloth:

The DP and 1Z sections came out nearly identical. The Griots however, failed to achieve the same results and left 303 behind as evident in the noticeably darker section (far right). Also, the consistency of Griots is thin and tends to run more easily. Griots is out.

Both DP and 1Z have a pleasant citrus smell, are effective removing prior products, marks, and leave a matte finish. 1Z however is only intended to be used on plastic surfaces. DP on the other hand works on :

  • plastics
  • vinyl
  • leather
  • carpet
  • upholstery
As the name applies, Detailer's Pro Series Total Interior Cleaner works on all surfaces except glass. Advantage, DP.

Cost break down of products used:

  • DP $.62 per oz/ $19.99 per 32oz bottle
  • Griot's $.37per oz/ $12.99 per 35oz bottle
  • 1Z $.76per oz/ 12.99 per 16.9 oz bottle
Now bearing in mind, the "standard" bottle size across products are not equal, so my cost comparison is a little rough. Griot's is substantially less per oz but you have to use significantly more of it to achieve the same results as DP did in less time. Advantage, DP.

I'm running low on 1Z and Griot's, so the DP arrived as a replacement for BOTH at just the right time. Thanks again to Brittney and AG for the surprise gift and for always running fun contest. Advantage, everyone! :dblthumb2:
 
I guess they have changed the DP Interior Cleaner scent. I have some of the older version and do not consider it a cirtus scent.

Could very well true, the bottle has a new version sticker on it. I ask my wife to smell it and all she got was "detailing chemical smell"

They changed a while back. I too have the #$@*&% smelling old formula. One of the few disappointments from DP.

Thank you! DP TIC is great stuff, I'd easily recommended it to anyone. I had been planning on using properly diluted OPC as my interior cleaner once my Griots and 1Z ran out but now I can save 1Z, and OPC for other jobs. The Griots I'll use up soon so I can repurpose the spray bottle.
 
The DP Interior Cleaner I have also is the old version. I believe the actual name of the scent is "Kind of like banana but not really."
