Ive been detailing as a hobby for awhile. But now im starting it as a side business and eventually into my career. I wanted to ask is detailing stable? And is detailing year round in the southern states likely?

Obviously a lot depends on your location. Without that information it is hard to tell. If you have a garage then yes, detailing is possible year round.

I've had business year round in Maryland. While winter is slower than spring/summer/early fall, people still get interiors dirty, and they want the salt off. Plus, new coating installs on new cars bought around the holidays.

Yes, of course it can- 110%

Now, running a successful and profitable business year round is a completely different story.

Its interesting how noses are sometimes turned up when speaking of year round detailing in snow country. Where do you think the dirtiest cars are? Kinda like asking a bank robber why he robs banks (because...that's where the money is).

There are opportunities everywhere. We have these things called garages, both heated and air conditioned.

In fact, I know some shops that are so busy in November and December putting on coatings, and then spring cleaning... that they can afford to take a month vacation in Florida in the winter watching other guys working.
