Does this ever come across anyones mind? I dont like to clean my rims/wheel wells because of what stuff gets into the water runoff. Ive also been advised to not wash my engine bay as well because of this (all the oil/grease etc). Animals drink the water as do we correct? Does this make any sense or am I just being stupid? :)

In some parts of California it's allowed to wash your car at your house if you move the car onto you lawn and let your lawn act like a reclaim area to trap road grime and other contaminants that wash off your car. You could do this with brakes, wheel wells etc.

I've done this and my normal routine for lawn care seem to keep the lawn green and healthy.

:)

So you don't like to, does that mean you don't do it? That's pretty thoughtful of you, but I'm not an environmentalists, I clean my car 100%!! :xyxthumbs:

I use ONR to wash everything then put the water into a sanitary sewer.

I wash my car like normal. What comes off my wheels and car is the same junk that gets washed down the sewer. I mean, your car did pick it up from the street in the first place. I guess the chemicals would be the thing to worry about such as the soaps and acids in wheel cleaners etc. I'm not "environmentalist," but I would think any runoff going into the grass would act like a filter.

Anything we can do to help the envorment is important .I also try and wash my car parked as close to the grass as i can.Down here in Florida we go though alot of dry spells and need to watch the water we use. Then on the hand i have a neighbor that was restoring a car when he removed the gas tank he poured the old gas about 3 gallons down the sewer it must of been 10 years old.Well the fumes entered into my house and we had to open the windows and run fans to get out the fumes.I called the local cops to report this they came and did nothing about it.Figured they would of called the EPA at least, guess if the houses on my block blew up they would of done something.

Well no it didn't come off the road, it came of the brake pads.
