Detailing Chromed Engine and Engine bay

Have a possible detail job and will meet the owner this evening. He polishes his own cars etc but just had heart surgery and needed some one to finish
out his work.

He wants his wheels polished and to clean/polish up a "decked" out chromed engine and engine bay. My question is...

What is a good product that will clean and enhance a chromed engine?

It won't handle serious corrosion, but my favorite AIO for chrome and aluminum is Collinite 850 Metal Wax.

BillyJack, Thanks. Will look into that. Will it be ok on engines? Since engines get hot---I'm leery on putting anything that may react to heat.

I don't have any chrome under the hood, just some polished aluminum. Haven't noticed any adverse effects.

Might look into a RUPES Ibrid long neck and some SONAX Chrome and Aluminum polish.

SONAX has been making this product for around 60 or 70 years. We used a lot of it on our TV show and it always worked great and never scratched any chrome.

Up-date:

30 model A with blown 355, 32 grill and huge meats out back. He is a skilled hot rodder and knows his stuff.

I don't think I'm going to get the job. My guess he was looking for someone just to give a hand wiping/polishing aluminum wheels and blower.
A teenage kid type of thing. The type of job Mike talks about that a pro detailer should pass on anyway.

Told him 2 hours max @ 80 an hour for 160 total. Also offered that if job was short, price will be less at 80 and if I went over 2 hours, price would remain fixed at 160. He blanched and said he also has another person coming to look at it.

Hate to admit this but I think he was checking me out more than the price! He knows who I am and we have crossed paths before. He knows that I have worked in a
body shop and I was good at what I do getting cars ready for delivery.

Bottom line: I don't think he wants ME to touch his car! (Translation = Up the skill and Up the confidence)

As I am typing this as part of my self assessment regarding pricing, salesmanship and personal relationships. I've concluded price was reasonable but suck at salesmanship and so and so on personal relationships.

It's all part of the process....!
