Detailing for a non detailed person and some newbie questions

So I am going to get a GG 6 polisher and a foam gun
Are these the accessories that I should get, or am I missing anything? Should I get more pads?

lake country 5" DA hook and loop backing plate
lake country CCS 5.5" orange light cutting pads(3)
lake country CCS 5.5" white polishing pads (3)
lake country CCS 5.5" red waxing/finishing pads (3)
cobra 6" microfiber bonnets(2)
griot's garage microfiber and pad cleaner

I will be using Zymol auto wash
meguiars clay kit
meguiars ultimate polish
meguiars ultimate liquid wax


I plan on machining the polish and wax and buffing the wax off with it as well.
 
I think the foam gun isn't needed just yet.. I still don't have one and don't think I need one.

Replace those Orange cutting pads with Optimum Micro fiber Cutting pads, they work better and finish almost LSP ready... Look around for reviews.

I don't see products for wheel cleaning, brushes, micro fiber towels (buy in bulk at Costco), and also you gonna need an APC, like Optimum Power Clean that will do interior and exterior, you just have to mix diferent bottles with several dilution ratios.

As for everything else, you're on the right track.
 
thanks, i will look into the optimum pads, I still will use the light cutting pads for under the bonnet for wax removal, but probably just need 1 because it will never touch product.


i bought 15 microfiber towels from wal-mart, and probably will get some higher quality ones as well. I also need to get some wash mitts, probably will get 2 main ones and a spare in case I drop one.

Yeah I hadnt thought what APC to use or gotten any tire stuff yet, my wheels are aluminum alloy from the factory, so I am not sure if they are clearcoated or not. Is there an easy way to tell?
 
I bought a bunch of detailing stuff, griots garage dual action polisher, pads, voodoo ride silq polish/sealant, breather mask, safety glasses, nitrile gloves, meguiars all wheel cleaner, microfiber wash mitts, terry cotten towels, tire brush.
