Hello, newbie here and first post. Getting ready to go mobile here in Arizona, was curious how you mobile guys deal with the extreme heat? I can't imagine doing much polishing outside or even inside a garage during the summer months when its so hot. I was just wondering how you all deal with extreme weather conditions. Glad I found this forum...I'm addicted!
 
In that type of heat you'll need:
1) a garage
2) tent
3) shade
4) work before the sun comes out
5) work after the sun goes down
 
Do any of you guys work out of your own garages at home? Getting a portable a/c unit in there for the summer isn't a bad idea. Just hoping customers don't think it's unprofessional.
 
When I get a referral for a side gig I will usually just plan for early in the morning or later in the evening. Its not a smart idea to work from 12 to 4. But if you do the best way I found for coping was alot of cold water and gatorade as well as having a towel soaked in some water. Also helps a ton if you can find some shade to do it in. Working in a garage or under shade makes a huge difference than being in the hot sun.
 
Thanks for the tips guys...I'm just glad the weather here will be cooling down. I'll have all winter to prepare for next years scorcher.
 
I am not a pro detailer, but I live in Phoenix and I do our vehicles. As others have rightly said, early in the AM and late afternoon to early evening is the ticket. I have a garage to get the truck and myself out of the sun, so that helps. If you are doing it for a client one thought is to get one of those fold up canopies, large enough to cover the car and perhaps a tarp to hang on the side where the sun is.
 
You've got to have shade at the very minimum. In the afternoon with a dark color, you can't dry fast enough, no matter the method, to not end up with a spotted mess.

I just run a few large fans in my garage. I have a small evap but it really doesn't do much. I take 3 waters and a Gatorade for anything over an hour when it's over 100, but then again, I'm 54 and not a pro. If it's too hot, I skip it.

Thanks guys..I'll try to start early, and just avoid that sun as much as I can.
