Detailing in the heat

Today while claying a car I realized how badly heat affects the process speed. It wasn't even that hot, but even so the lubricant was drying quicker than I would have liked. Thankfully I had a garage to pull into, but I know that sometimes I may not have that luxury. With that said, what do you other mobile detailers do in the heat? I just researched pop up canopies for a good while and believe that I will probably need to buy one. Here is what I've narrowed it down to.

I have read all the reviews. There are some strong negative reviews on the EZ UP one, but still. What would you do and which one would you buy? Thank you.
 
I personally can deal with the heat, but I want to be able to clay a car, without the lubricant drying in a few seconds, and do everything else more efficiently because the paint is cooler.
 
Ive been thinking about getting some shelter as well. I think 2 canopies 10x10 is the ticket, big enough to cover a truck but easier to set up then a single 20ft unit. Whats harder to figure out is how to weigh the canopy down so it doesn't blow away or hit the vehicle somehow.

#1 priority. Otherwise this is one of the reasons I like using clean soapy wash water to clay, there's lots of it to rewet and cool the surface of the paint
 
I've considered two 10X10s, but if I'm going to spend the money I'd also like the added benefit of being able to keep the car dry if it starts to rain and be able to keep working. The gap between the two would allow rain in.

What kind of soapy water do you use?
 
On extreme hot and humid summer,spread out your work load.work till about 1:00 mon thru sat if you can arrange it that way.Down here in south fla the sun intensity is a lot stronger than New England .

I use Megs Gold Class car wash soap and just use the water from the wash bucket (it's clean b/c of the 2 bucket wash) and take the wash mitt, run it over the surface to be clayed and have at it.

That is the exact car wash soap that I use and I love it! I will have to try that today, as I am detailing a Honda Ridgeline. Do you just wipe off with a microfiber towel, or do you need to rinse it off again so it's ready for wax?

I wipe the surface with the soapy mitt, clay, then wipe the surface with the mitt again (to wash off the clay residue) then rinse the whole car when done if necessary. I usually polish after claying, especially on my car, which is black just in case of minor marring from the clay.

I used a EZUP Swift 12x12 canopy I got from Amazon. Took a few minutes to setup, almost fit a Camaro completely under one. You'll have to get someone to help you open it.
 
Head down this way in August/September. As GSKR said, drink lots of water
 
I use to live in Tampa for 5 years and my parents still do, as well as my sister and her husband, so I know all about the heat. I might even be moving back to continue some schooling, but we'll see.

I've been down here in Tampa for 33 years. Detailing from now till October redefines a work out if it's in the natural environment and not in an air-conditioned shop.
