Detailing Jobs by Art Hernandez

So this client from my understanding is moving and is selling the car. He asked for my advice and opinion on what detail job I would recommend. I told him as a business I would recommend a 3 step. Since it would mean more profit for me :D . However, in my honest opinion I would go with a 2 step to keep the cost down and also provide lengthier durability than a 1 step and nicer finish as you'll see below.

So I showed him the difference between a 2 step and 3 step. He liked the results of a 2 step and chose that. He did mention to me at the end he was happy that he chose a 2 step. Although, he did ask me if I could do a 3 step on the hood. I said sure and did some up selling and did that too.

I used for the car:

ONR
M205
Meguiars Ultimate Paste Wax.

Rupes 21
PC 3"

Hood:
M100
M205
Meguiars UPW

Meguiars MF Cutting pad
Buff N Shine Polishing Pad,

And also, just wondering why clients to do this. Its the second time it happens to me.

They take the car apart before I get there. They tell me, "I took it apart to make it easier for you to detail." :dunno: lol

Good job on the up sale, I'm not much of a salesman but when it comes to detailing i can up sale headlight restoration or fabric guard every time! Nice work btw

Thank You, I am far from a salesman. Just use a lot of the info that I learned from here. Also, when clients contact you (me in this case) We meet and they see that I am the same person online as I am in person.

I've asked my customers this question, well the ones who contacted me. Why did you pick me, when there are so many detailers in SoCal? They said when I asked you questions online for example Facebook. You took the time and helped me out, you weren't trying to be a sales guy, you were just helping out another guy out.

They then meet me and see that I am the same person too, but we do go on the understanding that I am a friendly, helpful person and I will do what I can, but I am also running a business. I then give them a price and in the process of doing the job. I look for minor things here and there that I could include as part of the detail. A lot of times, I'll tell them at the end, when we are doing the walk around. "Oh and btw, I included that at no cost, and included that at no cost." etc...

In this case I told him the price and we agreed, he then brought up the door jambs. I said don't worry, I'll take care of that for you. Took around 2-3 minutes.

As far as the up sell went, I just said, ehh just give me this much more. He said great and it was done. Took a bit longer, but that with the tip I got, I was glad I did it versus not doing it.

So my advice would be, just be yourself and conduct yourself in a professional manner. Be honest, hard working and have their best interest as your best interest, when negotiating the deal or when doing the labor. However, there is no need to be out there killing yourself, because then with you dead, no one will benefit from it.

From before, during and after. I've learned that it shows and they see this and respect it as well.

Conclusion: :D

Be a professional business and make their best interest, your best interest. Which is Karma.

What are you charging for the Fabric Guard upgrade?

Check it my friends, I wasn't able to take any shots since I finished at night time. Although, it is for sale and the owner put it online and took glamor shots of her. I asked if I could use them and he sent me more pictures than he actually posted up. I then asked him if he would be ok if I watermarked my work, cos the other Lamborghini I did, the pictures were stolen. He said go right ahead.
