Detailing Ladder

It looks to be about the same working height as the 21" Werner, but with a handy tray at 51" for tools and MFs.

The pictures I posted were units that were $100 and $200. If I had the room I would get one, very handy!

So has anyone got a platform that's around 30"? Surely they can't all be just 20-21"

The Griots Garage one I linked to earlier in this thread, has a low height of 21" and extends to 31 & 3/4" high.

That's pretty cool. It doesn't mention that it is rated to be a work platform (scaffold) at the extended height, but I don't see why not. But still quite expensive to get an extra ten inches.

It is true and the manual does indicate such, but I find for my weight (155lbs.) at the extended height it supports my weight in a stabll, reassuring manner and have done so. If I were closer in weight to the 500 pounds it is rated for, I would only use it at the lowest extension. It is salty in deed, but in my case money well spent considering the extra height should I need it, the ability to plug my DA in at the platform and to have an extra workbench when needed.

It goes without saying be careful moving these platforms around the vehicle. I have the Werner and couldn't be happier. Very handy. I lost focus once and nearly scratched my vehicle with it. My heart literally skipped a beat.

Love my $17 Werner, Which doubles as my weight bench.
I did the pipe insulation mod today, had the material laying around.

Surprised someone didn't poo poo that *G* shopping link.

I can say however that when the page opened I screamed out loud:
"ONE HUNDRED SIXTY FIVE DOLLARS"

For a $17.00 Werner Platform!!!!!

(Then I realized they were talking about a taller one.) ;)

Gotta say I like the looks of that Steck unit though. Being adjustable, and with a bit of "railing" on the end would keep you from stepping right off the end (as we've ALL done on the Werner). Last time I stepped off the Werner totally blind was when I ruptured my L5 last November!

Love that Griot's as well, and having the power strip could make things easier at times. All things being the same though, the Steck is a lot less and basically has the same height adjustments.

What I'd really like to see is a 2 level version of the Werner, say something 5'~6' long that's 21" on the lower level and another 8"~10" higher on the upper level. Now THAT would be the best of both worlds.:dblthumb2:

My big problem with the Werner and its clones is the lack of a kick (toe) plate. When I'm leaning in to middle of a roof I tend to relieve the strain on my back by shuffling my feet a bit. More than once I've caught myself nudging the car with a toe, luckily without damage. I'm going to grab a strip of flat aluminum bar stock this week and bolt it to the foam-protected side.

any solid, 4 step ladder usually works well. Werner and Keller make good ones.
