So i was contemplating, as i convinced a family member to purchase approximately $500 worth of stuff, that i should provide a list of what with what...

my thought:

gather all of my stuff, and record condition, product order (with pad/speed) and subjective results...

my other thoughts were to assemble a wider range of data, such as color, etc from members on AutoGeek... Does this sound like something people would be willing to help me with? ultimately it could be used as a sticky for recomendations or starting points...

example is my noticed differences between Pinnacle LS and Natty's Blue on a metallic blue VW, list a preference or quick thought and update with durability (and season and state)

the more i think about this, the more i also think it will help others on here, who are unsure of the many many many different paths to the same shiny awesome looking results, as i have been there...

to further that, products could be compared by people, such as Megs 80/83 vs XMT1-3 on an older VW of mine... in this case, i ordered the first and it didnt fix the probem, upon advice, the XMT did...

i would be willing to compile the data and produce a pdf should anyone find this to be a good idea...

any thoughts? if you wanna start, post away

VAG clearcoat is pretty hard. I've had some issues getting some scratches out of the hood of my 2003 Jetta GLI. In my experience, Menzerna SIP did a great job of removing all but the deepest scratches (my nephew ran a Matchbox car across the hood - what can you do...).

I asked for several XMT products for Christmas (1-3 and 360), so if I get them, I'll see how they work on the VWs of friends and report back.

BTW, you should try Souveran paste wax on the R32. My Tornado Red Jetta glows in the dark with it and I'm sure your DBP would look awesome!

the problem is personal opinions are rarely scientific nor easily tracked. You can have two people with the same color car and yet each one swears the product the other uses doesnt work as well. I say tomato you toe-mato.

Best to track your own results and keep mental or physical note of your findings. Every so often you can go back and test it against newer versions or competitors also.

that being true, there are still many "fail-safe" combos of the many great products out there... what i was hoping to do was maybe even create a flowchart of products that are know to be great combos...

i was hoping to get some more info prior to really deciding on the format, but well see how that goes...

and yes, it wouldnt be scientific, more or less "i have ____ that was swirled and ___ with ___ and then .... worked and looks gorgeous"

i think once people venture into the AG forums, they can see what great results are, and are competent enough to have a few opinions on some combos...

This forum is all about sharing experiences. Post what you find out. This is especially true for polishes since technique is very important.
