I am a newbie to the detailing industry but i have been doing lots of reading and research on AG. this would be my first 2 step process on his volvo s60r, is there any additional info i need to know about volvo's paint system? hard/soft? the car has been neglected, its loaded with swirls and scratches. the car is either a black metallic or a dark blue metallic, hard to tell due to it being filthy and covered in salt.
these are just some products i have in my arsenal to tackle this job:
- Optimum no rinse.
- Fine/medium nanoskin towel,sponge and pads.
- Rupes 21 with 5inch backing plate.
- Rupes 6inch blue microfiber pads, blue, green, yellow and white foam pads.
- Griot garage 3inch polisher.
- 3inch cyan blue, tangerine, red and 3in LC microfiber pads.
- Menzerna FG400, PF2500, SF4500
- meguiars 105, 205
- sonax net shield
- sonic carnaubavore
first things first i would prep the car for compounding, wash, clay, dry and tape off plastics ect. prime the pad even the sides, then apply 3 dime sized dots of product. spread the product over a 2x2 area on a low setting. then i would bump it up to 5-6 setting, apply medium pressure slow overlapping passes, roughly 5-6 passes. wipe off inspect test spot and make sure that system is working properly. i have a question, lets say i use FG400 with the blue MF pad and i want to follow it with SF4500, do i then switch over to the yellow polishing pad? if anybody has any tips and techniques that can help with this car that would be great! thanks a lot!
