Hi everyone, I am in the process of making a plan of attack to detail my 2008 Porsche targa 4s in basalt black and need some opinions on products. The paint is in pretty good condition with very minor swirl marks probably caused by over washing it with one bucket. Will be switching to a 2 bucket wash with a dodo juice wookies fist. I have read on many posts about the nanoskin and will be ordering the 6 inch pad with glide to go with my griots garage 3rd gen buffer with lake country ccs pads.
My questions are as follows
#1 cleaning wax, is it required after using nanoskin
#2 what is the best sealant to use before I apply a carnnuba
wax
#3 carnnuba wax , recommendations to make black metallic pop
#4 I have some minor road rash and wanted to buy dr.color chip, at what point should I do the paint corrections and how long should I let it cure

Any info and recommendations would be greatly appreciated and thanks for all the great articles, very informative, Ron in Montreal

Welcome to the forums hand.
You will need to polish after the nanoskin, and what I consider to be soft Porsche paint.

I recently used Dr Color chip on my Lexus with black sapphire pearl paint. My entire front bumper was a mess to the point I considered either getting it painted or a new bumper with factory paint.

For $60, I solved this problem. If you look close, you can still see it but from about five feet away, not too easy. I would give this stuff a try. Also, after a week, I ran m205 with green pad over the area. This was followed with rd85 blue pad. I applied WGDGS 3.0 and done.

:welcome: To Autogeek Online Ron! :props:

Personally, I would fix the paint defects with Dr' Color Chip prior to any finish detailing. This approach allows the product to cure before any compounding and polishing. The kit comes with a complete set of instructions..

Basic steps in order are:

  • Wash
  • Clay or Nanoskin
  • Paint Correction & Polish
  • Seal
  • Wax

To gain some knowledge before you use a dual action polisher here's some great reading by Mike Phillips

Nanoskin is the latest in above the finish decontamination tools. While this reportedly does a great job at the minimum, the finish should be cleaned using a quality paint cleaner prior to sealing and waxing.

Any of the products on this page do a great job at cleaning the finish..

Hi everyone , Thanks for the options. Is it recommended to use the same polish as the sealant? For example Blackfire gloss enhancing polish with BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection ? Or personal preference? Also what is the better sealant. Thanks again, Ron
