Detailing/protecting glossy plastic front grille and wheels

I have the sidekick and the master blaster. I would never use a leaf blower...last thing you want is debris hitting your paint at 200 mph. Maybe some have filters, but mine does not.

Thanks for the tips on the Permanon, that stuff has peaked my interest for sure. Just spray on and rinse off? Sounds like a winner to me.

What do you think a leaf blower is going to suck up, a rock? It might blow whatever is in the air onto your paint but the master blaster is going to do the same..

I would be shocked to find your wheels aren't clear coated. Your best bet is a coating, but a quality sealant or permanon are also good options.

Yeah that makes sense. I may try the Pinnacle Black Label sealant on the wheels after this discussion. I'll let you know how that turns out.

Sure it can suck up a rock, at least mine can. For instance, the air intake is huge, anything can get sucked up in to that thing. It's designed to dual as a vacuum and mulch up small debris and bag it. On a windy day, even the tiniest particles would be like sand blasting your paint if there is dirt and dust in the air.

Both the Sidekick and Air Force Blaster have pretty substantial filters on them, nothings going in to that intake.

Great tips guys! Has anyone tried the Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant and have an opinion on it?

WGETS will work really well on the front grille. Even if you get any water spots after drying, they're easily cleaned up with a damp MF or some QD. I've found that the skinny foam brushes work really well for applying it on honeycomb grilles.

Isn't this what you said earlier Chris?

And yes, I'd try it as well. Although on that grill it looks pretty glossy. I've not had such good luck on hard glossy plastic with WGETS.

That's why I use a dedicated blower, it's never seen leaves. Don't get it close enough the ground to pick up any trash. (Heck I even store it off the garage floor.) ;)

The wheels I'd say would work with a coating. Short of that, Collinite is quick and easy.

The grill would be perfect for a WOWA sealant. Using Chris's foam brush idea you could cut it down to fit in the holes even. :dblthumb2: For that matter you could indeed do a coating, especially the new DP or BL as it'd take literally a couple of milliliters. Then while you were at it, do the wheels. :) Hmmm... wondering about the 'wheel' coating on the grill???? :dunno:
