Detailing Rant

You may be right....he is a bit of a whiner, so maybe it's better I leave it be.

That sucks about the no tip, no paid work. I completely understand. I've had the same thing happen before with design work... Done some freebie stuff for someone, they said they love it and thanks, and I get nothing back. Not even a "hey, let me buy you a drink".

Sounds like he did you favor.... detailing a friend's car for basically free that doesn't appreciate the work is a bad idea.

Oh... He doesn't want you to detail his car?? I thought the rant was that you had a male friend that bought a Boxter...lol

You offered, he declined for some lame reason (in my mind's thinking)...I say forget him.

Let him pay to have it done, and let the detailer deal with (and I think it will happen) all the complaints he will have after it's all done and said.

You have to work with this person, ya sure as all get out DON'T need to have some sort of 'work place drama' going on if he is 'upset.'

Just my 2¢...

Bill

IF he ever asks you to do it in a later day , don t do it . Which I doubt he ll ever ask . Anyways , that supposed friend don t trust you sadly .

I'm agreeing with you all. Just seems like a bad idea all around.
I'm telling the other guy to have fun dealing with it lol

Walk away my friend!

I learned this the hard way.

There are people you can help and they appreciate it and there are those who are to dumb to listen

Old topic, but there's an update:

So my friend at work asked me today at like 4:45 "when was I coming over to detail his car?"

Um, I'm not?

Then, remembering we were down a car (from my husband's not being home), and remembering you guys here saying I should offer to use this guy's at my detail weekend.

So I did.....
I told him I was hosting a detail weekend, and I'd have several professional and hobbyist Detailers over and we would detail his car if he donated it.

Here's how the rest of the conversation went:

Him: I'm not letting a bunch of idiots I don't know screw up my car.

Me: they aren't idiots. I trust them fully and they know at LEAST as much as me.... Some much more. Also, my sister has donated her new car for the weekend.

Him: well what does she drive?

Me: she is letting us detail her 2012 Mustang.

Him: well that's no Porsche, that's a turd.

Me: no more a turd than your car.

Him: I have a Boxster.

Me: yes, that means you wanted a Mustang, couldn't afford one, so you bought a Mustang II.

Him: my car's way better than that car.

Me: Whatever, you lost your chance.....

And I walked away.
I tried guys!

I think you made your point.

"So when you coming over to detail my car?"

winning.

Good Job Monica.

And, you have to work with this door knob?

Another reason I LOVE retirement, the only jerks I have to put with is only me (LOL).

Good try though, his lost (probably for the better, all considered).

Bill

Typical PORSCHE owner in my experience!!! LOL

But I dont get your "wanted a Mustang and couldnt afford it" comment...the boxter costs more last time I looked.

1. Not necessarily. Also, he bought the Porsche used, and

2. The joke was someone couldn't afford a Mustang, so they bought the Mustang II... definitely not the same

Well its good to know we guided you correctly,, what a A$$ Hat! He is the effin ID10T! wow.

This guy sounds like a Audi owner I know of, (I know his wife), He would rather drive to a dealer 2 hours away for their "detailing" guys to do his car. I tried to explainn that I'm not in a production mindset and guaranteed him My job would look better and how about wee meet for a beer and talk some more. He has not followed through.

Same mentality,,,,
(and the wifes we cant afford that right now ,,, OK well no harm in he and I having a beer this weekend,,, Well he is going flying,,,,) Wait! a tank of AV gas is way more $$ than what I charge! LOLOL

Sounds like this guy don't deserve having a bunch of "idiots" fixing his car. Some people really amaze me with comment like that.

At least I can say I really tried to help this guy out.

His loss. I'm really glad we all aren't wasting our time on his car during my detail weekend. You are all too classy to waste your time with that.

It worked out because now we can work on my friend's Mustang who will REALLY appreciate it. When I told him I'd like to use his car next weekend he asked how much... I told him nothing, all he had to do was drop it off and pick it up. He was so excited he hugged me.

I love the bit where the guy who knows nothing about cars (and could possibly be described as an idiot) won't let a bunch of OCD detailers work on his car because they are "idiots".

Why don't you let the Mustang owner hang around, maybe put him to work running the grill or something?

I would have to walk away from someone like this. I don't know that I have the people skills to continue being nice to someone who is uneducated and won't let a group of knowledgeable people polish their car.
