Hey guys. One question.

Where can I get a trailer set-up to be a detailing trailer?

just get one and make it to your needs .

Correct. A "Pre built" detailing trailer is going to cost you thousands more than building one yourself. You don't have to have a bunch of stainless steel frills, just make it efficient and usable. I have done a LOT of detailing out of my trailer and can tell you that its more important that it looks good from the outside than on the inside.

Do you really need a big trailer? I still do not understand what detailers have in those giant trailers.

Probably not but I would need everything that would be at a detailing shop.

I just finished setting up my detail rig ill try to post some pics so you can check it out . Its a way lot cheaper building it your self

you can use a site like claz.org to search craigslist and other listings, I found a lot of cheap full trailers that people are selling used.

I built mine (still doing it) out of a trailer (open) I already had. Depending on where you are, you can buy used enclosed 7x14's for fairly cheap. Had I not already had the trailer, I would have done an enclosed one.

Here's a thread of the one I did on the cheap.

I'm in the process of bolting down the gennie for a bit more security. Open trailers leave a little exposed, but we don't have a lot of problem with crime here.

Heres my trailer so far...I just have to put up some shelving and possibly milk board on the walls....I might just mount some durable milk crates for shelving for this year....Just wanted to give you a rough draft...I even put a solar panel on the outside to charge the battery for my stereo and extra lighting! It's not the best but I think It will work just fine! I'm getting it wrapped in two weeks1 I'm going through and figuring out my total cost! If you wanna know what I come up with pm me! Im the MAN

I am with the other poster about not needing a trailer. If you want one by all means get one. But I can fit everything I need to do a full detail in the trunk of my Saturn Sky (9 cubic feet) and the front seat.

I would agree but it all depends on where your detailing! I'm in Minnesota and a lot of the detailing I do will be trucks, especially in northern mn! They get pretty dirty so a pressure washer is definitely a must! I'll also be doing Rvs, boats and airplanes as well as pressure washing houses, cabins etc....It would be great to work out of my car alone but not here unfortunately!

It also depends on your water/electrical sources. Here, I really have to carry water with me, and I need a generator. I'm not putting a tank and carry gennie in the back of my yukon, so the trailer works better for me. The good thing is you can put a hitch on almost anything (uhaul), and can find really cheap trailers to pull.

I put my vinyl on my Yukon instead since I don't have the big side walls of an enclosed.

If you have a 2" receiver on an SUV, and you don't need water, you could easily carry a generator and PW on a hitch-mounted carrier as well, just another option.

FWIW, for my water, I ended up getting a 55gallon food storage drum (couldn't find anything cheap locally), so you could get a couple of them for $50, cheaper than the big tanks, and they work really well. They are sold as rain barrels too.
