Detaillers and OCD

9 and 7 i feel like i do a lot but not exactly about those certain topics, a lot of the time i think to myself and hold a lot of talk inside instead of saying it.
Sometimes it's better to nothing than it is to show you're ignorance.
Interesting video!

I just determined I have ADD...I couldn't watch the whole video to find out if I have any OCD :-)

Never considered myself "OCD". I just have never liked letting anything I've ever owned or cared for to look as if it wasn't properly maintained.

Is my house high-scale? Nope. But it always gets maintained as needed. Is my lawn perfect with 3 dogs? Hell no. But its always cut. Are my vehicles maintained? Yes, the best I know how. AG has helped with that.

I guess what I'm saying is this: In my experience there are 3 general types of people.

1) OCD. Everything perfect. All the time. If not so, go insanely mental.

2) Care a lot, but if something isn't 100% perfect, either try harder the next time, or live with it and have fun.

3) Slobs. Don't care about anything, including their own property.

I'm pretty much a 2.

So what you are saying is: I did not watch the video ;)

Detailers are more fastidious than OCD.

In order of importance for myself, I optimize for time, effect, fitness benefits, cost.

Washing and detailing 3-4 vehicles on a weekend is a nice workout for someone like me with a mostly sedentary day job and busy schedule with family.

It is an inexpensive hobby that yields vehicles that show uncommon paint finish.

It is also one of those things that are hidden in plain sight. Nobody needs to know how much Fuzion wax costs or how much I have invested in pads.

It is a great hobby with almost no barriers to entry assuming you have a place to practice your process.

Dude, I'm buying you a round LOL...............Me too.

That's why I hate the Junkmans Videos, like I have a hundred hours to watch all his overly extended videos. I'll take what Mike can teach me in 5 minutes or so. Mike P KISS rules. Keep It Simple Simon.

As Mike has said on here before find what you like or works for you and use it a lot.

Myself I have learned that there is a lot of hype on products and after a couple years on AG and their products I have found what works for me being a enthusiast.

Like as stated K.I.S.S.

A friend has OCD, from the age of 18. and is know only living life 18 years on with dealing with it.

it no joke. Mental illness is rough.

•Although there may actually be members of
the AGO forum that are afflicted with OCD,
-I've tried to never use "being/acting OCD"
in the framework of detailing vehicles:
-it was usually referred to, by me, as being
anal retentive (AR).

•However...that particular use of human
disorders/syndromes changed dramatically
after reading "reminder-posts" like the one
listed below...(I remember reading Mike's
similar thoughts on MOL sometime ~2008?):

If you really wanted to get what I call
"detail oriented", (I like this better than
anal retentive but you get the idea)...

•Simply put:
-Out of respect for Mike Phillips, (along
with his concern for keeping the AGO
forum as family friendly as possible);
-and to those that truly suffer the burden
of mental anguish in its various forms;
-I have vowed to refrain from using the
above disorders as detailing-descriptives.

Hope I never stray from that
straight-and-narrow...

Bob
