Nice observation. I wonder if it can be set between 600 and 1000 for jewelling.
Between each speed setting is another "notch" of speed control. So there is a definite setting for 600, 800 & 1000 rpms. The trigger itself also has a long stroke that allows for very precise control of the speed while in use. It makes it very easy to set it at 1000 rpm (or higher) and then be able to feather the trigger as needed.
Thanks everyone! I still have my Dewalt and use it several times a week. It is a work horse and performs any job I throw at it with flying colors. I have many bp's for it. Some 3in, 5in, and 7in. I've used just about every pad I own on it with great success. My favorite would have to be the Cyan HT pads and of course wool.
