I am doing a detail on an FJ tomorrow and was thinking of going with 531 on all the black exterior trim and tires. Anyone ever do all exterior vinyl, plastic and rubber with 531? How good is it on tires? Thanx

I have had excellent results with the other Duragloss trim products #271 and #301. I would expect this one to be of good quality as well.

I'm using dg 271 and like it a lot. It reacts differently to some of my trim but I believe proper cleaning and application are key

DG 271 is my go to for exterior plastic trim. Out of those choices I would go with 531 even though it's designed for rubber. Corey did a review on it and he used it on plastic with good results, it just can get a little streaky and tricky to wipe off all the product.

Not crazy about 531 on plastic trim, def streaky and tricky to wipe off. When your pressed for time in a detail don't want to be fussing around with trim dressing.

Might as well keep it going. I am partial to 253 but I jump around a little between 253, 271,321 and 531. They all perform well. I just re-did the 321 on the daughters tires that were initially done on 8/25 on BF Goodrich tires. I tried the 321 on Michelins and it did not seem to last, maybe it was an application defect on my part. Right now on the Michelins I have 253 that was applied 9/14 on one side of the vehicle and Perl at 1:1 on the other side applied 10/5. Both are doing well at this time.

I think I will be switching to Sonax Polymer Net Shield or Adams Spray Sealant for trim and plastic and LSP. Both are super easy to use, can be used on every surface and have great durability.

Does the net shield darken plastic or rubber trim? That seems like an expensive trim product. I do love it on glass and paint though.

Is it just me or does 253 and PERL 1:1 look, feel, and perform very similar?
I did one side of my car with PERL and the other with 253 and couldn't tell a difference at all. And they are both a white liquidy substance.

Not just you, they do have a lot of similarities. The main difference I know of is 253 has Rain Repel so I do not think mixing at different ratios with water for different applications can be done like Perl. I have not tried Perl full strength as I have always mixed 1:1 with water.

Yeah that's the advantage of PERL, dilutions. 253 smells like hand sanitizer and PERL is unscented which is nice.

Ive done an FJ just a month or two ago. Tip get yourself ALOT of APC cause the interior has no carpet just rubber. It was a pretty easy interior detail cause you basically can just blow it all out then APC and brush and wipe the whole floor. I didn't use any dressing on the floor because I worried about it being slippery.
The exterior trim I used 271 and it has held up really well, I am not familiar with 531 so I cant help ya there. It looks like ALOT of exterior trim but it really didn't seem to be so bad when I was doing it.
Heres the pics of it from my FB page.
