I have been needing to ask this but kept forgetting. I just recently got poor boys wheel sealant in a trade and wanted to know if diablo gel would strip the wax.
Diluted of course.

will diablo, iron x or any wheel cleaner strip opticoated wheels??? sorry for the hijack.... ^.^

Yeah it will. If your wheels are sealed you'll just need simple soap and water to clean them.

Does any one know when is the right time to use DG ? Diluted correctly can it still clean without striping the protection on the rims ?

Or do I just use it when working on heavily soiled rims that aren't protected

Diablo Gel isn't a strong wheel cleaner. It's pH balanced. Technically, it shouldn't remove it. If your wheels are well maintained, you can dilute it 1:6.

I would say it shouldn't. It is very gentle and non caustic, has no degreasing properties in it. I would imagine that the heat and brake dust would be more damaging to sealant than Diablo

In my experience with diablo gel it will not remove any sealants on the wheels. I have tried a few different sealants/waxes and I can tell you for sure it won't remove menzerna power lock, black fire crystal seal or optimum car wax. I also use it at 5:1 with no problems for anything but the nastiest wheels.

great to know guys. thank you !

why not just use a good apc on well maintained wheels so you can do the tires also in 1 shot?

Diablo should not strip your wheel sealant, especially if it is properly diluted. It is detergent -according to CG- and is their most mild cleaner. Mild in the sense that it won't harm aluminum wheels or ceramic brake components, not that it is weak on brake dust, which, after agitation, cleans quite well.

Happy detailing!
