Diablo Gel -vs- Sonax

I was not trying to look to hose off the wheel sealant.I was looking for a Excellent sealant to apply so I could just rinse off the dirt, brake dust when washing and not have to get out the wheel cleaner and scrub brush.
The wheels we cleaned were my brothers and were obviously in severely dirty condition that needed a scrub.
My cars are kept in much better shape.
The pics I posted were just to show different stages of the wheel cleaning.
I guess my post was not clear to you. I don't know of any sealant that you can apply to your wheels and the next wash, just use a hose to get rid of the brake dust and dirt with no soap or brush. Like I said, it would be the find of the century.

If you find a wheel sealant that can just be hosed off it would be the find of the century.

I have DP Wheel Glaze, Poorboy's Wheel Sealant, Wheel Wax and CG Wheel Guard.

Honestly, I think they are all great and no difference in performance. Right now I put Wheel Wax on my wife's BMW (a bloody dust magnet, becomes black after 2 days) and I just hose it off. I don't think there is any wheel sealant which repels dust, they just make cleaning them easier.

I have Sonax and P21S wheel cleaners. They are both great. You can't wrong with any of them.

That's what I've been reading in different threads,DP Wheel Glaze does a fantastic job of sealing wheels (Brake dust and dirt coming off with just washing and hosing off).
There must be some truth to it because I've seen a few threads from different forum members.

I'm sure what Rsurfer is implying is that you simply aren't going to find something like that. It doesn't exist at this point. And if it does, someone needs to spill the beans and let us all in on it, like right now.

I'm new at wheel sealants. If wheel sealants do not help aiding to keeping the wheels clean and aiding in the ease of cleaning, why are they offered?
Just curious :)

They do aid in the ease of cleaning. As I have said, my wife's car wheels are black from dust just after 2 days of driving. I just hose them off with water and all the dirt/dust is gone. If I didn't use any wheel sealant I would have had to use a wheel cleaner, brush and/or sponge to clean them. And trust me: Doing it is a nightmare.

I'm just second guessing some members comments "there's not a product that will let you hose off dirt and brake dust".

I will be trying DP Wheel Glaze in the very near future.

This is a personal preference, but when I am applying wheel sealants, I don't use foam applicators. I tried that couple of times even with the finger foam applicators and found that it is not easy to do it. I then tried applying them with microfiber applicator pads and it was much easier. I have like a kind of routine: I apply the sealant on all wheels, then go back to the first wheel, apply a tire dressing on all 4 wheels and then go back to the first wheel and wipe out the sealant with a microfiber towel. I found that is the best way as the sealant would have dried to a haze by then.

Most store bought wheel cleaners use an acid base or highly toxic ingredients. I prefer to spend more for something that offers safety and comfort. Griots, P21S and perhaps Sonax offers it to me.

Hey Scott,

I have the greatest interest in trying your listed three. Of them which is your favorite and which do you use most often? Since I drive BMWs and the cars that I seem to be detailing are BMWs, Audis, Mercedes and a Porsche coming up, which works best with the crazy European brake dust?

GG seems cheapest, P21S long term use and Sonax seems to have the best special effects (color changes). :)

Thanks!

You hit the nail on the head with each of them ... I find myself still going back to P21S most especially on my uncoated custom wheels. None are cheap, and I often find alot use much more than needed too. So use sparingly and consider any, likely depending on which is on sale when needed.

Thanks Scott,

Well I guess that I need a sale quick! Meghan, can you help us out?

I use CG's diablo in alot of my wheel cleansings. I love it to death. I think its not bad for the price.
I use Grime Reaper for the wells and follow up with bare bones.
Both products listed do need to be worked for sure on the wheel. I used their wheel guard on my wheels and I use just regular wash soap to clean them with ease.
