This is not a thorough review, but just some thoughts and observations on the two products. The car in question is a 2006 Acura RSX which has a large amount of relatively horizontal plastic surface to the headlights.
A couple years ago after I got into this, and my car had been in an accident (and both headlights replaced) I know I wanted something to protect them since they were new. There weren't many clear headlight protectants (at least that I knew about) but Diamondite Liquid Armor seemed to make a promise of results that I was looking for. After 2 years of using it, I can say it didnt work.
When I first began applying it to my headlights, they needed no restoration as they were new. However, over time, they have begun to deteriorate, oxidize, show micro cracking etc. This is with regular use of Liquid Armor. Perhaps Liquid Armor slowed this process down, but it certainly didnt stop it. Many times I actually did a minor restore of the headlights, and reapplied liquid armor, but ultimately, the haziness returned. I can say I am extremely dissatisfied with the results of this product.
After application of Liquid Armor, the headlights had no noticable difference in feel, and they never shedded or beaded water. They just were.
On a whim at the auto parts store, I picked up a bottle of new Meguiars Headlight Protectant a few weeks ago.
Before applying, I actually did a pretty good job of restoring the headlights. Using Megs PlastX, and a white CCS pad, I got out my PC 7424XP and went to work on the headlights. I got a 90% "correction" / restoration on them.
The Megs headlight protectant is a cream, where the Liquid Armor is a spray liquid. I applied the headlight Protectant and instantly the headlights felt different. They had more of a slick feel, the same kind of feel after applying a wax or sealant. They also beaded water somewhat, where before they didnt at all. In essence, at least to my pea brain, they seemed to have some sort of coating or protection that Liquid Armor never seemed to leave.
Now its just a waiting game to see if this product actually does more to protect the headlights then liquid armor did.
Sorry no pics, but not sure I really had anything to actually show.
I have been getting away from Mequiars products because I have found that there are as good if not better products from the smaller boutique brands, but perhaps this is a case where the Megs product is actually superior? Time will tell, but the initial impressions are better.
