I just recently bought some Diamondite Shield aerosol. I thoroughly cleaned the windshield and sprayed some on. It goes on nice but then immediately starts to bead up. The directions say:

After your glass has been thoroughly cleaned, apply Diamondite Shield and allow it to dry to a haze. Remove the haze with a clean, soft cloth.

Interestingly, the same product (pump form) has completely different directions.

1. Mist the glass with Diamondite Glasswork Shield and use the folded microfiber towel to spread the sealant over the glass.
2. Flip the towel to a dry side and buff the glass to a bright shine. Allow Glasswork Shield to cure for an hour and then apply another coat if desired.

For the same product, application methods are opposites. One let dry, the other spray on-wipe off.

I have blown through a can already trying different things.

Can anyone help?

What was your method for cleaning the glass? You might want to hit the glass with a DA polisher and some fine polish to make sure the glass is naked before you apply the coating. Sounds like there is still a later of something on there keeping the coating from laying out cleanly.

Quite a few....no DA though. The one that I thought would have the best chance was the razor blade to the windshield followed by Sprayway...no good ?

Would IPA prepare the surface enough for another test?

Diamondite Shield in the aerosol form needs to dry to a tack haze (about 5 minutes) before removal. If it feels excessively grabby, remove residue with a dampened microfiber towel.

Some people don't like aerosol-based products, which is why the pump-spray version is available. Although they're similar formulations, the aerosol version needs to dry before removal.

What do you think could be causing the product to bead up like it is? Do you have any suggestions on what I can do to prevent this or is that normal?

Make sure you're not applying it too thick. A thin, light coat is all it takes for complete coverage.

The glass might have a film on it. Try using a glass polish (by hand or machine) to remove the film. If the glass isn't squeaky clean, the coating won't bond properly.

I just used this product make sure you use plenty of lube when you clay the windows. Then use the glassworks restorer then when that has had time to dry I wiped it off and then I applied the shield I found it easier to do half of the window at a time and then get the haze off. Also spend some extra time on the front window you won't be dissapointed

Did yours separate into beads. I can actually watch a nice even coat break up and move together... Kinda like that liquid terminator movie

I've tried a mirror, eyeglasses .. I've tried the lightest of coats, the thick coat ... It always beads.

Was yours aerosol or pump?
