Did a little playing after work with WG & DP tire gels

Even though i have plenty of tire dressings, i will give the sample of WG tire gel some use on the next detail of my daily driver.Im the MAN

Your test/comparison was one of the reason's I'm doing this one actually. Thought it might be useful to see how the DP product looks when compared to the other stuff on the market.

Thanks for the test, I was curious about the same thing. Also, your test confirmed to me that I have made the best choice in tire gels for my taste, 32oz Opti-Bond and 4-32oz DP Gloss. I set for a Looong time. :xyxthumbs:

DP looks so much better, especially in the most recent pic. :xyxthumbs:

I agree, I like how the design and words of the tire wall look with DP. WG looks like dirty motor oil was the dressing. Opinions, Opinions. :D

Good stuff kb2ehj,

For some reason the Link to Davids review isn't working. Just thought I'd re-post it.

Thanks Corey! Not sure what I did there. Here's a link to your tire gel thread. :D :D

Well it's been seven days since the application of the DP Tire Gloss and Wolfgang Black Diamond Tire Gel.

Since the last post, we had two days of brief rain, maybe a total of 30 minutes at most, and 1 full day of rain.

As you can see neither side could hold up to this.

I will of course continue to use both products, but don't think they live up to the marketing claims that have been made.
Straight from the AG site(DP product) ->"Because the gel is within the rubber, it does not rinse off in the rain and it even lasts through a wash or two."

Wow they both failed pretty fast.

Makes me think that it really isn't worth spending that kind of money on these "quality" tire dressings when the cheap stuff will last just as long.

Yeah they sure did. Honestly I was not surprised (because of the rain)

Yes it does. Luckily with two gallons total, I won't be needing to purchase anymore for a while.

I must however say, I liked the DP product better then the Wolfgang. I felt application was easier, smell of the product was better and since it is a thicker product after the 30 minute sit time I wasn't concerned with sling.

I'll probably end up redoing this experiment in a couple weeks, I'll do one 'big' write up and have all the pictures done before posting it.

Were you driving in this rain or was the truck just parked?

The two short showers were in the middle of the night and the vehicle was parked.

The 'big' rain I was driving(about 20min. on the highway each way, car was parked in a covered parking deck in between drives.

I know you guys just ordered it but I like my tires to really shine. With that said I would be happy eitherway... But I like the right side with the bling shine!

Which do you think would look better on a red corvette with stock chrome wheels? matt or gloss? just curious on your take Mike

I use 4 Star tire protectant gel. Wicked shiny!

I'm surprised to see the DP fail. I've had better durability then that with my DP in the past and just recently. I just did my green Saturn on Sunday and we got a good deal of rain monday. Off and on for more then half the day. I drove in it on the way to work that morning as well. Its still looking good today.
