Did I get the wrong pads?

fyi, im not sure the PC will turn the wool pad that much either...i know it is the hybrid, but id consider returning that pad or exchange for a MF compounding pad.

I did return the wool pad......
Any specific compounding pad you recommend or have experience with, or can provide links to?

The PC will not spin the 6.5" pads properly due its lack of power.I agree with all the members suggesting 5.5" pads.

Yep, already there. Just was curious how many blue/orange/red pads to get. 3 of each? More orange than the others? I was thinking 4 blue, 3 orange and 2 red..... or maybe 4 blue, 4 orange and 1 red.

Basic rule of thumb is the less work the pad has to do, the softer it is, the less of them you need. Once you've gone over all your cars and done the worst of the correction you may not need to do any compounding again for several years.

The 'workhorse' pads whether flat, CCS, hydro, or whatever will be the ones you need the most of. Say CCS for instance, if you don't need yellow all that much then 3~4 would probably be fine as it's the most agressive pad.

But move to orange then white and even the black/gray and up to the blue where a lot of products can be used with them and I'd say at least 6 of the higher cut pads, end at least 4 of the next two. (Same thing for tangerine and cyan in the hydro line)

Once getting to the red and gold they are more of a finessing pad or wax/sealant spreaders and don't get the abuse the others do. (Although they are softer so they'll wear out faster)

Another thing to think about is mixing product(s) in a pad. Especially the abrasiveness. I'm weird about it I know, but I will not use 105/UC on the same pad I use for 205/UP. Can use the same 'color' pad for both products but I don't want the cut from the product getting mixed up, especially when doing "on the fly" cleaning.

I know I'm just being OCD about it, and with a pad washer (that I don't have but if my family was paying ANY ATTENTION AT ALL they would buy me one) I could wash them out really good, spin them good, let them dry, then the next day it'd probably be OK. Just easier to label them and move to another pad.

Probably should put any new DA in the "most regretted" thread as the cost of the machine is just pennies compared to 3 ~ 4 times that much in freaking pads! Must keep reminding the wife how much money she saves with my AG addiction and all the 'free' labor she gets with me keeping all 5 cars looking better now than they did BEFORE my addiction. :buffing:
