I bought a bottle of Zymol at walmart last year. The blue liquid one. I've heard good thigs about it and the label says "Rated #1"(not that I believe marketing!). I was curious about it so I gave it a try. Used it on a black car. I just did the trunk and was not impressed at all. Went on easy, but hard to get off! Maybe I used too much??? Anyways, I wasn't impressed with the shine or depth....seems like it did nothing for that black paint. Since I didn't like it, I gave it away. Another product/money down the drain. Does anyone like this wax???

its not ZYMOL. its turtle wax. its just a relable product . zurtle wax:D

Is it really turtle wax? If so, that's why I didn't like it.......never had much luck with Turtle wax products!

Two things:
1. You probably did use too much. (Most people do :))
2. You can buy much better products so don't give up on taking care of your vehicle.

It was rated #1 ten years ago by Consumer Reports. They did say it was little harder to take off compared to others like NuFinish. I've used it too back then. I wasn't impressed either. It's a decent OTC product if you're not into the full detailing aspects of a vehicle, but there's definitely better stuff out there.

And yeah, it's made by Turtle Wax. If you check the address on the bottle, it's the same as regular Turtle Wax.

Yep...the Zymol you buy at Wal Mart is made under their name by Turtle Wax. It's simply a marketing device to get their brand name out in a mass marketer venue. I guess they hope you'll like it enough to move up to the more expensive Zymol products that they do make themselves. Not a bad product...there's just better stuff available either online or from Wal Mart and other mass merchandisers.

Even if it was rated #1 ten years ago, no product stands still...there's simply too much competition. If they don't find improvements, some other brand will pass it in quality.

You likely did put it on too heavy...quite common with Carnauba products. If the temperature is high and/or the humidity is high, that's even more common. The surface layer dries quickly and what's under it doesn't. You try and wipe it off and you end up with smears. When that happens spray some quick detailer on it and wipe. That usually takes care of it.

Good thing I didn't jump for Zymol! I was looking for a cleaner wax for after claying but thankfully the Meg's kit I bought had some.

Drifting a little off-topic, but.....

Is the blue Zymol available OTC today the same product as it was back when Zymol still owned the company?

I remember using it a loooong time ago, (20+ years), and I don't remember it being particularly good or bad. It did seem a little better than the green Turtle Wax available back thenm but that could have been because it cost a lot more. Also had a nice coconut smell as I remember. :)

turtlewax bought the rights to use zymols name on there products . these are not zymol high end products that you see on web sites.

I used that once because a friend of mine was like oh your should try this, didnt like it wand went back to my Gold Class. What about the leather cleaner and conditioner sold OTC, that Turtle Wax as well or is it a true Z product?

I found it extremely easy to use and to remove. The directions say not to let it dry before you remove it. You are supposed to take it off when it's still WET. You do small sections at a time, about 1 or 2 square feet, and then wipe off. After I did the whole car, I misted it with filtered water ( a spot free rinse system) which really leveled it out, making it look wetter and glossier. I then wiped off the water and gave it a light buff. It was awesome after I was done. You need to use it properly to get the right results. It IS extremely difficult to take off if you let it dry. I found that out when I tried that, just to see. Then I used more fresh wax out of the bottle to remove the dried on wax easily, and immediately wiped it off with a MF.

i remember buying that junk about 6 years ago- it dusted and was hard to remove on my Audi TT-QC. plus it clouded/hazed on my brilliant black paint.

It can't dust if you wipe it off while it's still wet like the instructions on the bottle tell you to.
