Me and the wife are going on a little diet. Well, actually, we made a bet to see who can lose the most weight in November. (still pigging out on Turkey Day though:D) I have a bad habit of drinking a ton of soda and eating before bed. That will stop on the 1st. Of course, eating healthier a less wil help too....
Not really looking to excercise a ton, just a few simple things.

Looking for a little insight. I need to lose more than my wife:righton:
Plus, I can stand to lose a few pounds or 40.:p
I got the craving during the pregnancy, now 8 months after my son was born, the cravings are still there.
So help a fat guy out...........Im the MAN

I am in the exact same circumstance. I lost over 50 pounds on Adkins a couple years back (yeah, yeah its a bad diet, so is lead paint and abestos) but once the wife got pregnant I added the weight. With a second one coming, I am not sure what to do next ...its too dark to walk at night again now !!

Weight Watchers On Line has worked great for me.:D

Though there are a ton of different diets out there that may work for an individual it comes down to just that. What works for one doesn't necessarily work for another. There is however one simple thing to keep in mind. One has to take in less calories than they burn every day in order to lose weight. It's that simple, in order to do this without shutting off the food supply completely some type of exercise must be part of a diet. It may be just a good walk daily or something like biking or swimming. If a person diets by solely regulating the food intake it usually ends up badly. You can't starve yourself and stay healthy. Find an exercise you like and have time for daily, knock out the obvious extras (soda, sweets, second helpings). A brisk walk for 30 minutes a day is a wonderful thing for your heart and your weight loss. Modify your diet but be smart about doing it. It's O.K. to have a desert but you don't need it at every meal and you don't need a large or second portion. If you try and deny yourself of the things you really like to eat, the chance of you staying with your diet is greatly reduced. Moderation in food choices along with some exercise is the secret to success. You didn't put it on in one month, it won't all come off in one month but it's reasonable to expect to lose 5 - 10 lbs./month with a little focus, discipline and self control. Following this simple mind set you'll be surprised what can happen in a months time without killing yourself in the process.

Well I would love to give you some advice but I'd be typing for the next hour and a half.
I normally spend about 2 hours a day in the gym and used to have my personal trainers cirt. when I was younger. So If you would like to PM me with your # I'd be happy to sit down and give you a call that would be A LOT faster than trying to type it all out.
Id really need to do an assessment of your current diet and exercise habits. But like I said PM me and I'll be happy to call and talk with you.

Well, very simple. No soda. Drink very minimum (no more then one can a day and diet only). No deep fired junk food. Yes, no french fries. (man I love IN-N-OUT french fries myself). No chips. No carbs, that means very little on bread. Drink juice instead of soda - Tropicana, Martinellis. And no ice-cream:( .

I think GearHead hit the nail on the.... err.... Head? lol!!!

Dieting is easy... if you keep your mouth shut, you will lose weight....
Its easy... Although I dont follow it at all...
Its called the "Keep your mouth shut and Excersize" diet.... lol!!!

Seriously, I've heard and seen (not my fat ass!) alot of people succeed with South Beach diet....
And I've seen some dramatic turnaround with Body for Life.

Me.. Im on the "fatkins" diet... I just eat everything and sit my fat arse on the couch!!

I lost 40 lbs this year and it's still off. Drink water and more water, cut back on your food, stop eating sweets, and detail more cars! :D

Atkins is a good way to drop the weight fairly quickly. At least it worked for me. But it gets expensive eating meat every meal. How can you not like a diet that lets you eat bacon and eggs for breakfast every day?!

I'm not convinced that the diet is bad for you in the long term. Especially if you get a case of gout from it!

Good job man.... Glad to hear people can keep off weight.....

I believe a "diet" is about 90% mental..... If you put your mind to it.. it will work....

But again, I cant get myself to do it... so Im a "do as I say, not as I do"..... lol!

Hahaha, just had a salad for dinner.
Cucumbers, tomatoes, and lettuce. A little bit of fat free dressing.
SOB I am hungry...lol

Guess a galss of water will knock that out...... Wife had McDonalds....haha. She said she is waiting until the 1st......
No halloween candy for me.........

The worst thing I do is eat RIGHT before bed. Watch a movie and eat chips and dip. Or make some hot pockets......lmao That right there is a BIG factor that needs to be squashed!

Xterra....... Ha....I eat whatever I can grab out of the cabinent on the run. Snack cakes and a coke. Or grab a slice or 2 of ham out of the fridge...
That should tell you what my diet consists of. Not very good. On the run food........
I will PM you later about some stuff......

you are right all so it's all about will power!!!!
Ask any body builder 80% diet 2)% exercise.

U mite want to use this site I have the full program (wonderful)
http://fitday.com/
http://bodybuilding.com= all the info you'll ever need.

I say it's quite simple. Just eat sensibly and do at least 1 hour of exercise every other day. I think it's a minimal effort and you'll see healthy positive changes.

And if you hate running, buy a bike. I'm telling you, even if you're not changing your diet, going for a good bike ride (an hour and a half or something) twice or three times a week will be huge!

Here is a website that I am using, Chris. http://sparkpeople.com/myspark/mysparkstart.asp

It gives you all the information. All you have to do is impliment it. My wife has lost a lot of weight as well as dress sizes using this program as well as attending Jazzercise. She is my role model.

I have a five month plan to see how much I can lose. I do the same things that you do. Will try to adjust my bad habits and live a healthier lifestyle.

Good luck with your diet. Mine starts today!!! Will compare notes on Saturday morning when you arrive at my house.

Im not ragging on ya P1 but if it was simple everyone would be fit and trim!
I know I need to loose a few pounds. Make sure you guys do some before and after photos. And stay off the scale that's not a good judgment or get a titina with a body fat monitor or just use the mirror.

One thing I did when I was dieting a few years back was to weigh myself EVERY DAY!!! It stops from the binge and purge (or fasting) you might try if you know you have a weigh-in coming..... you couldnt possibly starve yourself (unless you're Nicole Richie or an Olsen Twin!!) everyday to try to get a better weigh in.... Just do it with the same routine.... Before eating, no shoes, after bathroom, etc... whatever you decide just do it....
Or like X said.. dont use a scale at all.... It is nice tracing your weight loss though, and is a decent motivator if you can see the pounds come off via a scale....
