I used the Meg's D151 on my in law's Ford yesterday and when I tried to do the areas inaccessible to the buffer, I tried using a MF covered applicator and the stuff was a nightmare. I used a dry applicator and the polish didn't want to spread or work, it gummed up on the pad and the paint and it seemed to take a ton of polish just to get a small area - the exact opposite of using it with the PC.

When I first started using it on the PC last night, I gave the pad a spritz or two of Ult Quik Detailer to prime it, should I have done the same thing with the hand applicator pad?

Any suggestions?

Don if it's gumming up on you try using less product or prime the pad with a spirtz like you have on the pad.

Thanks, I'll give that at try on the next detail.

When using any one-step cleaner/wax by hand or machine, assuming the paint is neglected - if so then you use the product heavy or wet.

If you watched the episode of Competition Ready where we worked on the million dollar plus Duesenbergs on the mode owned by Augie Duesenberg we used a one-step cleaner/wax from SONAX and I explained how when using one-step cleaner/waxes you use them heavy or wet.

Heavy or wet means use an ample amount of product because you want plenty of the below ingredients working for you,

Lubrication
Chemical cleaners
Abrasives
Protection

Using it with a dry pad means the pad tried to absorb the product instead of spreading out and working for you.

:)

If you get the Velocity channel, watch for a rerun of episode 1 from season 2,
